I used to live in the gym. I worked out five days a week and worked part-time there as well. People asked me for tips on how to stay fit and what to eat and drink. As time went on and my schedule got busier, I got lazy. I’m a prideful, stubborn man and to open up and say that is difficult. I started a career as a nurse working 12-hour shifts. I became a volunteer firefighter that required an on-call schedule of at least 128 hours a week. I bought rental properties and tried to better myself for the future. I used fast food as a crutch to get me through my day. I worked hard to support my family, who needed me emotionally and financially. I lost my way. I saw myself gaining weight at lightning speeds, eating poorly, barely sleeping, and struggling to keep up with my day-to-day responsibilities. One day I tried to walk a flight of stairs at the hospital, and I was gasping for air as I reached the top. I’m a nurse, I thought to myself. I’m supposed to set an example for my patients. It was that exact moment that I internally told myself I would change my ways. I started my daily diet and exercise regimen and stayed consistent with it. In 12 short weeks, I cut over 25% body fat and lost a whopping 94 pounds! I poured my heart and soul into it and achieved every goal I set for myself.
