Goal: Manage Weight
Starting the Challenge was the hardest part. I was scared. As a life-long perfectionist, I had adopted an ‘all-or-nothing’ attitude; this often left me with ‘nothing.' I had been too afraid of failure to start anything. This time had to be different. I put a lot of focus on the nutrition component. I knew it would need the most work, but also yield the greatest results. I counted my macros; I looked for ways to increase my protein intake (which is where the EAS products were invaluable; I started baking with protein powder!); and I meal-prepped every week. After only four weeks, I reached down to put my hand on my hip and it felt different. A week later, I was doing squats and was amazed at how many muscles I felt engaged; muscles I didn’t even know I had. I was starting to feel my body change, and I was realizing my true potential! After that, everything came easy. I WANTED to eat well. I WANTED to forgo a night at the bar in lieu of the gym. I WANTED to see what else my body could do! I absolutely missed some days, but I’m not ashamed to admit it. It turned into a good thing for me – finding balance. Learning to say ‘that’s good enough,' instead of giving up. In addition, my confidence has skyrocketed. I now walk up to the power racks at the gym and I’m not intimidated; I belong there. I’m now empowered to be me. While I may not have the perfect body, I have MY body, and I will continue to fuel it and challenge it to be its best.
