I spent six years in the Marine Corps before coming home to attend college. It's easy to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle when physical training was mandatory daily activity. Four years after returning from overseas duty, life had gotten in the way. Between full-time jobs, attending college, a marriage, baby on the way, and moving, exercise tends to get put on the backburner. My energy levels were way low. It was hard to make it through a day at work. I would get home and tell my wife I was just too tired to get anything done. My body ached, and I even went through several bouts of mild depression. I knew something had to change. Hearing my wife tell me there was a little one on the way really got me motivated!
I wanted to be a healthy dad and husband! So I got together with a co-worker, and we started jogging. However, after a couple of weeks into the training, I knew I needed something more. That's about the time I came across Body-for-LIFE at a local bookstore. I was motivated! I read the entire thing in one sitting! I needed structure, and this book gave me that. The first week was rough, but after that, things started improving. I became much more productive at work, and my energy levels were sustained. They were more than that, "I just ate a candy bar feeling". I no longer felt bloated and achy. It gave me something to accomplish every day. My attitude has really changed too, and people notice. Instead of giving my wife an excuse when I get home, now I ask her how I can serve her.
