Thomas Phillips: 2002 Champion
|
As Thomas Phillips passed from college to marriage to fatherhood to full-time employment, sports disappeared from his schedule along with trips to the gym and his weight rose to nearly 200 pounds. "One day I woke up, looked in the mirror, and decided to make a change," Phillips says. Tired of feeling lethargic, Thomas accepted the 12-week Body-for-LIFE Challenge and became a 2002 Champion. Thomas put away his 12-inch dinner plates and used only 8-inch plates to keep his food portions in check and stayed focused at the gym by listening to music on his Discman. Thomas lost 28 pounds and 15 percent body fat, and dropped his cholesterol 66 points. "My life and my attitude have changed since I accepted and completed the Challenge," Thomas says. "I’m a better husband, a better father, a better friend … a better person. I have a new appreciate for all the wonderful things in my life. I am able to enjoy myself, my family, my job and my friends to the fullest."
