Everett Herbert

When he heard about the Challenge in 1996, Everett Herbert was out of shape physically and mentally. He had put on a lot of weight and his busy schedule didn’t allow time for him to exercise. Or so he thought. Herbert decided to make time to work out and before he knew it, he was regularly going to the gym, tracking his workouts and eating well. Herbert said it felt like there was a voice in his head encouraging him to give up, but he trekked on.
"I knew in my heart that finishing this workout today and sticking to my diet would determine who I was, what I would look like and how I would feel about myself tomorrow," said Herbert. The Challenge gave Everett a new viewpoint on how to live his life.
"At the start of this Challenge my life seemed beyond my control, said Herbert. "It might have been getting up at 4:30 a.m. to go work out or going to the gym at 10:30 p.m., after a long, hard day at work, or sticking to my diet day after day, but slowly, that feeling of control, that I can make a difference, came back."
Since his success with the Challenge, Herbert has not only continued rebuilding his body ... he’s also been rebuilding his new home.
