I didn’t quite reach the goals I set for myself in doing this contest. I had some setbacks, and I would have liked to have come out a lot leaner with a bit more muscle. But I feel like that is ok. I did set some high goals for myself, and I believe that in setting goals in life, you have to set them high. You may not reach the top, but you will certainly come out with a better result than setting a modest goal that is easy to attain. Another important quality I learned while doing this Challenge is that you just have to keep on going. Never quit! Things are going to happen. Injuries can set you back, but you modify and adjust your workout and move on. I was intent on finishing these 12 weeks. Just like in life, things will not always go your way. There is always a potential storm around the corner. You know it could and may happen, but you're mentally prepared to handle it. You adjust and move on. As a competitive high school wrestler, I set many hard-to-reach goals. I wanted to be a state champion and break a national record for “most takedowns in a single season.” I came close by finishing 3rd at the state tournament and losing a 4-3 controversial match in the semis to the eventual state champion. I did, however, reach my other goal and set a new national record for most takedowns in a single season (326)—a record that lasted 10 years. The Body-for-LIFE Challenge is about setting new goals and reigniting your passion for living life to the fullest.
