Stronger Than Ever
More than 10 years after his first Challenge, Charles Damiano is in better shape than most men half his age.
When Charles Damiano turned 50 and went in for his yearly physical, his doctor told him that he has the body and health of a 20-year-old. What is his secret? Charles has been following Body-for-LIFE for over 10 years, and the program has enabled him to maintain his weight at 180 pounds and his body fat between 10 % and 12 %, while his HDL and LDL cholesterol and blood pressure are at optimal levels; all while sporting a 32-inch waist and year-round “six pack abs.” “Body-for-LIFE has also given me more mental clarity, confidence, better self esteem and has improved my decision-making process over the years,” Charles adds.
Before Charles discovered Body-for-LIFE, he filled himself up with the traditional “three square meals” a day, and generally felt sluggish. Sure, he worked out, but only a couple times a week without purpose or goals. “I found myself looking in the mirror during that time and saying to myself, ‘I guess I look OK,’” he recalls. “I realize now that ‘OK’ is not what I want from life. I owe it to myself, my family, my wife and my kids to be the best that I can be.”
As an executive in the fitness industry, Charles had always been advocate of fitness and health, but he realized it was time to step up to the plate. “I believe you should not only talk the talk, but walk the walk,” he says. “This gives you the power to inspire people and touch the lives of those around you in a very profound and effective way.” Charles first entered the Body-for-LIFE Challenge in 1997, then again in 1998. He placed in the top 10 in 1999. In 2004 Charles was crowned the Body-for-LIFE Men’s Grand Master Champion. Since then, Charles has been a tireless advocate of Body-for-LIFE, and takes any opportunity to share his experience and the power of Body-for-LIFE with those around him. “When people ask me about joining the Challenge, I tell them that it will be the most rewarding, exciting and life-changing experience imaginable. Go for it!” he says.
“The Challenge not only teaches you to achieve victory in the gym but in every area of your life as well.”—Charles Damiano, 2004 Grand Master Champion
