Just 5 years ago I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain a single pound. I was very athletic and in great shape. Just 12 weeks ago, at 22 years of age, my doctor had told me that I really needed to start watching my weight and that my body fat percentage categorized me as obese. I still ate whatever I wanted to eat and it was really showing. I came up with any excuse I could think of to try and convince myself that my weight gain was not that bad, and that I still looked great. This, however, was far from the truth. My self-confidence was crushed and I knew that I had really let myself go.
When a group of family and friends told me about the Body-for-LIFE® Challenge, I decided that it was time for me to make a change and dedicate myself to the next 12 weeks of eating well and exercising. The first week was anything but easy. I missed my junk food and sugary snacks. I was sore and did not want to go back to the gym again. By the third week, everything had changed. I had figured out great healthy meals and snacks to eat and I was looking forward to going to the gym each day. I was sleeping better and had more energy throughout the day.
At the end of the 12-week Challenge, I knew I had lost weight and I knew I was in much better shape. However, I had no idea how much my body had changed until I saw my before and after pictures side by side. I had lost 34 pounds and 12.3 % body fat. I had lost 8” off my thighs, 4” off of my waist, and 3” off of my hips. I was disgusted to see my before pictures but I was so proud to see the incredible transformation which I had accomplished in just 12 weeks. I am in the best shape I have ever been in and the Body-for-LIFE® Challenge has taught me how to eat well and exercise in a way that I can continue as part of my everyday life. Body-for-LIFE® not only helped me transform my body but it also helped me gain my self-confidence back.
