"No Slack"...just do it!

  • Day 25

After giving some thought of running the track today, along came the dumping of rain and winds and convinced me to move inside to follow my original plan. The elliptical was waiting for me...the only one that wasn't yet taken. I hopped on and away I went. The 20 minutes just seem to go by so fast and I even hit my peaks hard enough I was concerned that my heart wasn't going to ever slow down on the last minute.

Another job well done. I have also been walking at a good clip a couple hours after the gym. Anywhere from 3 to 6 miles maybe 2-3 times a week. I hope this still allows the rest I need. It's just something I have always liked to do and allows me to get fresh air.

Today was a good day :)

  • Hi Randy,

Thank you for posting your progress it helps to keep everyone pumped! I can't believe how wonderful your doing and your only on day 25. I did not progress as fast. The results came towards the end. You are doing amazing! One day at time, 110%, change from the inside out.

Exercise supports the spirit and keeps the mind in vigor.

    Friends,

    Lori

  • Day 26

Good lower body workout...I raised my weight a little once again and a couple hours after I started to get stiff and really feel the workout. My ab workout was also great but next time I'm going to change it up a little and add weights. I'm not sure what i will change to but I will either use the crunch machine or use a plate. I'll give it some thought as I'm eating on my free day.

    Day 27

Aerobic workout today was a hard run up at the track. Once again I battled the head games and won. 4 great high points in the 20 minutes. Gayle has the steak and potatoes cooking as I'm writing this...Yumm!..Thanks Gayle

(authorized portions) with weigh in in the morning.

    have a great weekend everyone.

  • Day 28

    Week 4 weigh in,

Well, 4 weeks into this now and I keep feeling better everyday. Here are my results after completing 1/3 of this program...

Starting Weight, Body Fat, Body Mass...231 lb, 36.7 BF, 31.0 BM

     1st wk........................................................223 lb, 29.7 BF, 30.2 BM

     2nd wk......................................................221 lb, 24.3 BF, 27.0 BM

     3rd wk.......................................................220 lb, 24.0 BF, 26.8 BM

     4th wk.......................................................217 lb, 23.3 BF, 26.5 BM

     Total loss....................................................14lb, 13.4 BF, 4.5 BM

At this point I'm very happy with my progress both physically and mentally. I know that from here on out it can only get better and I'm real excited about the upcoming workouts. I plan to change my lifting routine just to shock my muscles a little and hit them from a different angle. I am a morning workout person and will continue with that.

Wow!...you wouldn't believe how long it's been since I have been below 220lbs.

    Thanks for all your support!

    Randy

  • Entering into week 5

I didn't do too bad on my Free Day...except my most favorite Ice cream bar from Dairy Queen. A Buster Bar and later that evening 3 pieces of Pizza. Well I guess it's more incentive for the Monday morning workout.

The workout went great as I changed the exercises...surprising my muscles. With a few weight changes I should have it down for next time. I did have great sets and will keep it the same until week 9 where I'll change it one last time. All in all...very happy!

    Randy

  • Day 30-33

The new exercises I found worked very well to stimulate my muscles at a different angle. Man oh man am I sore. It's amazing though, how they adjust so fast because the second time through on the Upper Body I will have to add more weight for next time. I thought I had it just right but I was wrong. I can't believe week 5 is winding down with only an aerobic day left. So it's off for a run in the morning and leaving the week on a good note. Yepeee!

    Randy

  • I just received Champions Body for Life this week and It's Amazing! I get blown away looking at all the transformations and all the great attitudes. I really want what these folks have. I have also ordered Eating for Life as Gayle has cooked a handful of meals out of it...I wanted my own copy.

    Randy

  • Randy,

I've heard amazing things about the Champions book and have not had a chance to purchase it. Perhaps this will be a Christmas gift to myself. I would imagine the inspiring stories are fantastic.

Thank you for all your great posts. They keep us all pumped and accountable.

    Best wishes,

    Lori

  • Day 34-35

Well he end of my 5th week is here. I woke up yesterday (Day34) with a minor sore throat...uhoh! Is this the cold everyone's been talking about? It wasn't much so with the rain poring down I headed inside the gym and got in a great aerobic workout on the elliptical. I stopped and picked up some vitamin C, some green tea and relaxed all day with an early bed time.

This morning (My freeday) I awoke and not feeling well...I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. Darn it! I've got to overcome this...or at least do everything in my power to get back to feeling good again. So I'm writing this from my bed with the hopes that plenty of rest and fluids will allow it to run its course in minimal time. Other family members are going through some of life's challenges also at this time, so we all need to take a look at what we can or need to do and we'll see this through.

I did however get myself up to do my weigh in and here are my numbers...

Starting Weight, Body Fat, Body Mass...231 lb, 36.7 BF, 31.0 BM

    1st wk.........................................................223 lb, 29.7 BF, 30.2 BM

    2nd wk.......................................................221 lb, 24.3 BF, 27.0 BM

    3rd wk........................................................220 lb, 24.0 BF, 26.8 BM

    4th wk........................................................217 lb, 23.3 BF, 26.5 BM

    5th wk........................................................215 lb, 22.8 BF, 26.3 BM

    Total loss....................................................16 lb, 13.9 BF, 04.7 BM

So far so good. I'm going to push harder this upcoming week and will get a set of comparison pictures for myself at the halfway point.

Have a great weekend everyone as I sign out from my bed :(

    Randy

  • Day 36

Woke up today after 12 hours sleep ('s been along time since I've done that) and no sore throat. Just a snotty nose and a clogged head. My energy was somewhat back so I headed to the gym for LBWO. It went much better than expected and increased weight throughout by 10lbs. I also took Dozer (Dog) for a 6 mile walk.

    Today...Successful!

    Randy

  • Yahoooo!

     Day 37-40

Week 6 has been an eye opener for me. Unlike week 5 where I was digging for inspiration and fighting to do everything right from workouts to eating. Week 6 has been working hard to overcome the cold and for some reason I've been able to improve in everything...both physically and mentally. Great workouts, eating correctly and motivation has not been a problem. Wonderful!

With Christmas tomorrow I will be taking a freeday as far as meals go. I will go for my aerobic run in the morning in a fasted state...hold off an hour, weigh-in, take a couple midway photos...Then enjoy the day with Prime Rib from Gayle and Vern's Christmas Menu...along with a few other goodies. Yumm!

With an evening service at Church tonight, my good ol' sis made me open a present that couldn't wait for the morning...a new pair of Levi 501 jeans 34x36...I haven't fit into a 34 waist since High School...You got to be kidding me! Thanks alot!

Yahoooo!...THEY FIT! and the best thing is, I didn't have to squeeze into them. Wow! I'm pumped...Thank you BFL for the Inspiration...The Structured Challenge...and the Hope!

    ...."I Feel Good!"...da-da-da-da-da!

    Randy

  • THAT'S WICKED AWESOME RANDY!!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!

    Your sister rocks!

  • Day 42 end of week 6

Well we did it! We're half way through our 12 week journey...and all I can say is...Why did I wait so long? This is so cool!

I am so looking forward to the next 6 week as all my efforts are going to be in this challenge. As I look back...I did most everything as good as I could...with a couple minor unauthorized snacks and my cold that zapped a little energy out of me. Yesterday (Christmas Day) I took as my freeday and I did eat way toooo much. Not that it was all unauthorized food...The portions I took were way too large. I felt like a "Pig" ohhhh did it hurt, I couldn't lay down I was so stuffed. I took the dog out for a long walk and felt much better on my return.

Never again do I want to fell like that again...Wow!

Well, Here are my numbers for this weigh in...I also had Gayle take a couple midway pictures that I'm not sure if I'll post them yet.

I'm happy with these numbers as they continue to get better...

Starting Weight, Body Fat, Body Mass...231 lb, 36.7 BF, 31.0 BM

    1st wk.........................................................223 lb, 29.7 BF, 30.2 BM

    2nd wk.......................................................221 lb, 24.3 BF, 27.0 BM

    3rd wk........................................................220 lb, 24.0 BF, 26.8 BM

    4th wk........................................................217 lb, 23.3 BF, 26.5 BM

    5th wk........................................................215 lb, 22.8 BF, 26.3 BM

    6th wk........................................................212 lb, 22.0 BF,  25.9 BM

    Total loss....................................................19 lb,  14.7 BF, 04.7 BM

    Week 7, Here we go!......Charge!......

  • Here's my 6weeks Photo Progression...

  • Day 43-47

Wow! I can't believe how fast this week has gone by (busy crazy week). Yesterday I made the egg salad sandwiches from Eating for Life book for a potluck. They were fantastic and a great hit.

With Peter home on leave for a few days I picked his brain about Protein, Creatine and the Glutamine. His concern was my use of too much protein that I had just started last week. With all I was eating he felt I was getting enough and told me to stay the course continuing what I'm doing. My concern was that I didn't want to end up too skinny :) although I still have a ways to go to reach that point.

Well, I'd better get going it's 8:40am and I get to do an UBWO this morning (my favorite). It's 20 degrees out this morning so it's going to be a nice brisk walk to the gym...so off I go.
