I just started Body for Life today. I used the sample menu in the book and feel like for a woman I am eating way too much. Should I scale down the menu? Is there a difference between the men's and women's menu? Do you have to do the Myoplex to get results? I did 6 small meals of proteins and carbs and I'm so afraid of gaining weight.
Any advice would be helpful for a newcomer.
Hi there Workingout!
Firstly, welcome and good for you! Huge step and you have picked a great program!
I don't have the current book, but I'm assuming you are sticking to the "Fist/Palm" method which is why the sample menu on this site doesn't have ounces listed for each item....
Please do not alter the plan at all - it works perfectly for all sizes, men and women... hundreds of thousands, maybe millions have proved this after finishing a challenge. A man's hand is bigger than a womans and if you analyzed the content of the carbs/proteins (which you don't need to do), you would find that women generally have about 20grms of protein and 20grms of carbs at each meal (reading labels on things like tins of tuna/salmon and carbs like rice/bread etc will help you with this.
You don't have to use myoplex you can use any brand product, although myoplex is a pretty good as one or two of your 6 meals a day, depending on which one you pick if it's a "balanced" shake - that is: right portion of protein/carbs" or a "lo carb shake" - you need to add your own carb, or just protein powder and not a mixed shake thats ready to go... (call the help line and they can help you pick the right one for your goals).
Please don't be afraid, it has been tried and tested on so many people, it works - do the plan as written - get all the meals in (they are quite small when you use the correct portion size), drink all your water (very important), do your training with intensity as written (don't just go through the motions), make sure you have your goals clearly in your mind, visualise how you want to look in 12 weeks, come here to the forums for advice and to boost you up when you need it (and you will!).
