Yesterday was my second free day. I ate entirely too much, and in three meals instead of our normal 5-6. SO, for my own sake as well as for others, let me briefly describe my "food hangover:"
First of all, yesterday, I felt like garbage most of the day. I'm hypoglycemic, so eating 5-6 times a day (especially our healthy, approved foods) truly helps me to regulate my blood sugar so that I don't get sluggish. On Free Day, however, I ate sporadically, ate some non-approved foods (I'll avoid posting food porn - even *I* don't want to see it!), and at the end of the day, I ate too much! Even though some of my choices were "healthy" foods, I went a bit overboard. All day I kept getting dizzy and light-headed, felt like I had no energy, and just wanted to go home and go to bed. That is my OLD way - most definitely NOT my NEW way!
This morning, even after 8 hours of sleep (my norm), I could hardly drag myself out of bed! I felt exhausted. I even briefly considered calling in! Today, I can hardly wake up, I have no energy, and all I want to do is get back to eating right and get to my workout this afternoon! I feel terrible because of that yucky, too-much food yesterday.
NOT WORTH IT!! (Yeah, I'm talking to you, SELF! It was NOT WORTH IT!)
I'm going to take the advice that some have posted and begin "planning" my Free Day. I'm free to make choices - and I want to make BETTER ones!

Thanks for posting this Kimmie! I'm one that prefers to plan my free day MOST of the time. Every once in a while I'll have a free for all and have much the same feelings as you listed above.
To anyone else out there feeling like Kimmie...get back on plan, a few clean meals and your body starts getting back to normal.

I know the feeling too well Kimmie - and I have been trying to only do 1 meal wrong on my Free Day, but it was much tougher getting up and going today compared to others...

Hey kimmie, I too experienced the FREE DAY hangover. Very Very tired all day today. Had a small crisis hit in the afternoon and I completely fell apart due to the exhaustion. This was my second free day as well and even though I have a birthday celebration next weekend I will be planning good stuff for most of the day and just a little "free food" for fun. Thanks for sharing your experience--glad Im not alone. jill
Well. I had some candy and some chocolate chip cookies and let me tell you... I was so dragged out and depressed for 2 days it almost scared me. I had ZERO energy and ZERO motivation for anything. I finally realized it must be the SUGAR that I never or very rarely eat. I think I had POISONED myself.
I have had quite a bit of water since and just took an hour walk and only NOW am I STARTING to feel and be able to THINK like my old self!
This is truly enlightening and depressing at the same time. It means I will probably never be able to eat candy and cookies the way I have in the past... I know they aren't good for me but this seems to say they are HORRIBLE for ME!

It took me until about Wendesday to feel "like normal" again! WOW. A one-day free-for-all is definitely not worth a two-and-a-half day recovery. Then, of course, the hormones hit, but at least I know they'll go away in a couple of days. :P

Well, my free day was much milder this week tho I did cheat a bit on Fri night and even Sat. SOMEHOW I know free day is coming so I start to cheat...
Monday mornings are hard to get going because of free day. I feel more fatigued and dragged out and guess what?? The trainers at the gym are cranky!!! Apparently, they take a free day on Sundays, too, an aren't very happy to be there bright and early.
I have found that by drinking a lot of water and perspiring in the sauna that I feel better much faster.
^^^LOL@"knowing free day is coming so I start to cheat." That's funny because the day before my free days, I'm always thinking about eating a cookie that night, then I remember, nooooooo, it's only a couple of hours away.
Anyways OP, you're referring to the carb hangover. It can be just as taxing as a alcohol hangover, but, at least in my case, it only lasts until I get off the treadmill, drink 48 oz water, and have my breakfast all before 7:30 AM. I've found the best thing is to make sure it is Cardio day after my free day, seems to get rid of the feelings a lot more quickly.
My 3rd Free Day was much milder, as well! Looks like we're learning!! :D I planned almost all of my day, and only fell apart on my last meal, which I hadn't planned - go figure. (Note to self!! Plan it ALL!) So I was standing there asking myself, "Ok, what do I want that I won't be able to have come tomorrow?" You know what? I couldn't come up with anything!
Holy smokes, Batman! That means my habits have changed!!! :O
Ohhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!! *nods approvingly*
