Muscle pull in my calf...help me stay on track!

  • I'm a 35 yr old woman with a mission! I'm on day 8 and so excited about this program. I have been doing so well in all aspects, but this morning on my run I pulled a muscle just below my left calf. I limped home and put it on ice. Now I'm wondering what I can do to stay on track. Tomorrow is an upper body day, so it will have a little time to rest but I imagine it may need more time than that. I'm fine adjusting my lower body workout, but how do I do cardio with one leg? I've thought of a rowing machine. Any ideas about how to manage injuries such as this one and still stay with the program?

  • Hi! Compression really helps me with any little injuries throughout the program. It really helps support those muscles. I do spin for cardio sometimes, that is a great workout...and it doesn't really engage your calves. You could also just try doing your HIIT on a spin bike, it would still be super effective. Also, epsom salt baths will be your best friend. Good luck, and feel better!

  • Hey There -

I'm the same age as you and seem to have had some pretty serious injuries throughout my four challenges.  You need to make a decision, are you hurt or are you injured?  If you are hurt, then find a way to keep following the program.  If you are injured then you have no choice, you need to abandoned the portion of the program that will cause you further aggravate the calf.

If you need stop doing the cardio for a little while then really make sure you are STRICT with your diet.  If walking does not aggravate it then I suggest you walk for 45-60 minutes in place of the HIIT Cardio.

    Cheers,
