I have a major issue with my right shoulder and suffer with constant discomfort with it from months of bad ergonomics and stress at work. I have found however that while doing lateral raises makes my shoulder feel like its the muscle is about to snap seated shoulder press doesnt.
Try a different excercise and see if they're better if not i'd say to rest it for a week or so as you'll be out longer if you do yourself a real mischief.

I have a bad Fibromyalgia flare in my left shoulder right now and I am on a steroid medication for it. I am just working it more gently than the other side.
