~To be great is not to be higher than another, but to lift another higher.
Great room Amy!!! Lots of space!!! I'm moving my at home gym to the basement today!
Live Love Lift!
Dee :)
Deirdre-
It takes up about half our basement-the t.v. is in front of the elliptikill (as I like to call it.)
I love having this right in my own basement--nothing fancy, but it is its own space-just for working out and that helps put me in the zone. We just got a big remnant piece of carpet and put it down and it made all the difference as far as it not feeling so basement like. I want to get some motivational posters up, too!
Have fun moving your gym to the basement today!

Deirdre!
I love your excitement-already moving that stuff downstairs-you go girl!
Mike Harris, BFL Champ that just passed away, was a good friend of mine. He shared my husband's and my story on his website if you'd like to read it.
Have a great night!
Hi Amy!
I did it! New gym in the basement - LOVE IT! I got all the racks & equipment in the basement, assembled & organized! My husband (who does BFL with me and we exercise together) loved it too! Together we carried down all the weights last night! This morning we were all revved up and ready to go! I always check my pulse for 10 seconds after cardio and today it was my personal high - 24! I range from 18 - 24. Going shopping for new cardio equipment today - again excited!!!
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. I've been copying & saving all his blogs as people post them, they help me a lot! What a wonderful man! I'm going to check out your story on his web site...

You can probably emagine what my apartment living room looks like. E-mail me and i'll send you pictures. I will tell you most of this equipment has been aquired over 10 years and some I had to sale because i had no room to put it. I may sale off some more to make room for new equipment I have stored. John
Wow John!!! Lots of cool stuff!
I just added an elliptical machine and a treadmill! I would love to have (someday) a squat rack, cable machines and a leg press. But I'm fine with what I have now, that's just my wish list!
I read your story and my heart goes out to you, I admire your strength and perseverance! Very inspirational!
Keep up the good work!
I work out at home also. I have am eliptical that works me harder that the treadmil, and a total gym. I love having everything at home
Hi Amanda!
Another Total Gym user!!! My husband & I love it and it works well with this program! Soooooooooo many exercises and if it gets too easy just add the weight bar abs weights! I don't use it for EVERY exercise but for about 30% of them! I also use the weight bench, DB's & barbells.
I agree, I love having everything at home too!
I guess I could say I workout at home... kinda. We live in an apartment complex that has an awesome gym downstairs and we use that gym. It has over a dozen cardio theater machines (4 or 5 bikes, several ellipticals, stair climbers, etc...) that all have individual TVs hooked up to satellite which is nice. They've also got a really nice free weights section and tons of high quality machines (chest flies/deltoid machine, rowing/triceps/biceps machine, bench press / shoulder press machine, quad/hams extension machine, quad/calf raises machine and several pieces of ab equipment).
What is so nice... is we get there early enough (around 4:15am) that nobody else is there the entire time we are training and it is like we have a pro-grade gym just to ourselves!!!
Technically it isn't within the confines of our 4 walls at home... but it is just down the stairs and around the building. It is nice being a 5 minute walk away from a gym instead of having to drive all the way to a gym. With such a nice gym available to us 24 hours a day... I have NO excuse not to workout now. =)
That is wonderful brobar! Sounds like a dream gym!!! And all to yourself - perfect, 4:15 am - Thats dedication! I think that 6 am is early!!! Who do you workout with?
Yea Deirdre it is pretty nice. I workout with my wife. She isn't doing BFL with me... she is doing weight watchers but she is still nice enough to get up that early with me and go down and workout on the elliptical while I do my workout.
4:15 is a little early... but I know myself and I know if I don't do it first thing early in the morning that I'll sleep in and say "I'll just knock it out later today" and I'll keep making excuses throughout the day 'till the day is done and I haven't done my workout. Then I'll beat myself up over it and feel pretty crappy about it. It is just easiest for me to wake up that early, head to the gym and get it over with. Plus... getting there that early means we have the gym to ourselves. Other people start trickling in around 5:30 or 6:00 but I'm usually done with my workout by 5 so it is all good. I'm still a little self-conscience so it is nice not having a room full of other people in there while I'm working out. =)
Now that's what I call a "at home gym". Greattttttttt! John
Thats great John! I think its very nice also to work out with your spouse! I love working out with my hubby!
