Cardio in morning question...

  • So I've been doing my cardio on an empty stomach before work for the last few weeks.  Today, I had a very hard time from the start, I felt like I had nowhere to pull energy from.   I almost passed out and got really nauseous.  Of course I continued to run (I only have 3 weeks left), but I had to sit down for a while afterwards.  I've still been dizzy and hungry all morning.  I've had a RTD Lite, Oatmeal with a scoop of whey protein, and now tuna with spinach since I worked out.  Maybe I should just eat first or maybe I didn't eat enough yesterday???? I'm well hydrated (drank 8 glasses so far today), but the whole thing kind of freaked me out.  I'm not sure which component I messed up today, but I'd like to never have this morning again.  Any suggestions?

  • Running girl;  Did you get all your meals in the day before?  Especially the one right before bed?

Also, I know weeks 9-10 are tough for a LOT of people.  Are you getting in all your complex carbs?

  • I felt the same way. I have since then moved my workouts to the evening, after a full day of eating. I wait the alloted 3 hrs after eating then wkout, then wait an hour before I eat again. I haven't slowed my results, I'm still losing and toning.

  • If you do feel like this again runninggirl I strongly recommend you stop and take a breather rather than carrying on. Whilst we all have our goals, and your obviously very motivated to achieve yours, continuing when this fatigued will make you very prone to injure or worst you actually will pass out on the treadmill (not a good look). Also your body is telling you something different to its normally "wow this hard" and that shouldnt be ignored.

Well done on your determnation to finish the workout though a lot of us might have taken easy.

  • I have a hard time working out on an empty stomach as wel. I have found that if I simply eat a fat free 35 callorie yogurt before my work out I feel like I have the energy to continue my work out without getting light headed!
