Your results will speak for themselves! I wouldn't worry too much about journalling in from of others. You are on a quest now and this is required to make sure you are accomplishing your goals and making the gains you need to!
I proudly take my journal with me to the gym everytime. I wouldn't go to a meeting without my laptop. I need those items to make sure that I am organized. I have also found that by taking my journal with me I find a lot of people will ask me about the program that I am on. YAY! I have the opportunity to share BFL through this.

When you think you are the biggest looser around...think there are people (like yours truly) who EVEN TAKE THE BOOK TO THE GYM! After 6 weeks I forget the exercises I am suppose to do...and I like to know I am doing them right by reading before each exercise. SIX WEEKS!
I am sure you feel better now.
Plus, journalling also allows you to keep track of your weights so you can ensure you are moving up and making gains!
