• I'm at the end of my second week - been doing real well. Today is upper body - and suddenly my muscles seemed so fatigued - I pushed through - but didn't feel it was a particularly  beneficial workout.  It felt like every move was a push to muscle failure.  Is this normal - should I ignore it? I'm 67 I usually do my dumb bell curls starting at 10 then 12.5 then 15 and then 20 - I was struggling with 12.5-  I mean really struggling. Can  you overwork a muscle?  I don't want to blow this. Thank you for your help.


  • Yes you can over work a muscle but I don't think that is the case here.

    Could be a couple things such as not enough carbs in your diet which could cause fatigue.

    However, keep in mind that not every work out is going to be a home run.

    We all have good days and bad days.

    Another thing is, I plan my workout about 2 hours after dinner and drink a shake to help with recover within 30 minutes of the workout. For me that means it falls between dinner and evening snack but the time of day you work out does not matter. However, I would definitely have the meal you do after be a shake as liquid absorbs faster then solid foods.
