BEST TIMES FOR UPPER AND LOWER BODY WORKOUTS

  • Charlie: Studies are the best way to get real information.  You are disparaging me because I bring real information.  That makes no sense.

Also, stop with the paper tigers.  I would of course agree that the advantage is not there if you never step foot in the gym.  Again, I go in the morning because that's what's best for me on many levels.  If I went in the evenings then I would miss workouts and the personal gains I get from the morning energy boost.

People should have the right information.  I discouraged no one from going and in fact, did the opposite by stating that it was a small advantage and not one I personally use.

Nothing I said is for or against Life, wait for it, wait for it....STYLE.  A question was asked about technical information and I accurately answered.

  • Ok, sorry to interrupt everyone.  I don't suppose I could just delete this thread, right?  I mean, I probably should have just looked up the answer myself instead of just randomly asking someone else but it wasn't my intention to start a thread war over a simple question.

Seriously, can we just get rid of this thread?  I think I got most of the information I'm gonna get.

  • Chris,

I think you can delete your posts if it makes you feel better. There is an orange "X" I think at the bottom of each of your posts. There is a pencil icon there too for editing posts.

If you want, come over to the Coffee Crew thread. Lots of great, like-minded, positive, encouraging people there. Stop in and say hi!

  • I agree with Orrin. Come to the Crew Chris! :)

  • My old BFL book 1999, page 65, see below for what Bill says if your main goal is fat burning...

"To further enhance the fat-burning effects of these workouts, do them in the morning, in a fasted state (before eating).  Scientific studies indicate that fat is burned much faster - up to 300% faster-when you excersise in the morning as opposed to doing the same excersise in the afternoon (BY THE WAY, IF YOUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO LOOSE BODY FAT, CONSIDER DOING YOUR WEIGHT TRAINING WORKOUTS IN THE MORNINGS ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, TOO)

NEXT PART IS FOR THE CARDIO IF YOU CAN'T DO MORNINGS (page 122)

"Now, if you just can't do your aerobic excersise in the morning, the next best thing is to do it in the evening, after not eating for three hours"

ME: The most simple way to do things is by the book if your un-sure and are new to it.  Mate, all good that you ask but stink that it turned into a debate.  You can ask whatever you like aye : )  When i say things i tend to go by the book, i think people have differing thoughts on things, which is cool, but difficult when to  much info is given, or a debate starts.  Im no pro, but do come from a strong fitness background, i was trained as an instructor by one of the top gyms in the world, prof dancer and have travelled to Thailand to train with the Thai's in Muay Thai.. so i probably do have more technical knowledge than your average person.  What i don't do, particulary with BFL is talk like im a pro, JUST FOLLOW THE BOOK IS MY BEST ADVICE : )  (I also like to go by what studies say, but BFL is clearly cut out and really doesnt require the debates, it is what it is and very clear.

  • I am a firm by the book believer.  Not everyone comes here with the same goals so it's important to remember and respect that.  The question was not about fat loss specifically.

None of the advice given was contrary to the book.  It was simply information.

  • You are so right, thats why i wrote it word for word, and highlighted if your main goal is fat loss.  It would be interesting to get BFL's opinion on just weight training by itself if your main goal is not just fat loss.  I would IMAGINE, that if its not, then it's not such as issue what time you train weights. : ) good stuff

  • @jessica - i agree with the morning person theory completelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. i am much more energized and ready to tackle any task in the morning hours and will be ready to just chill and do nothing starting at around 4-5pm :)

  • You make it til 4 or 5?  Wow.  I'm impressed.  Yeah, I couldn't regularly workout in the evening.  I'm weaker, less coordinated, tired and cranky.  I love the morning.  My workouts are focused and then I feel great it was done and energized for my day.

What's wrong with us?  :)  Or... right?

Ps - I don't drink coffee.  It tastes like burnt water.
