If i was looking to gain some muscle, how would i change the workout routine...should i add wieght and reduce reps like the following.
going heavier than normal and until failure on the last set before the 12 reps of next excersize
12 reps with another excersise
That would bring down your total volume possible. Just lift as heavy as you can with each set and follow the number in the book exactly. Mass will be added by your diet. Workouts just tear down the muscles. And yes, workout till failure on your last set.

BFL Way of Lifting IS actually a GREAT design for adding mass.
You may want to focus on really hitting failure on the x6 somewhere between reps 4 & 6. Keep increasing your weights to get to failure somewhere during that set. OR you may follow the BFL book recommendation and get to failure towards the end of the second x12 on the superset.
