Jessica - Mighty Max I'm always suspect when a scientific article endorses a supplement. In this case, Alan has a deal with them. I'm not saying the supporting evidence is bunk, but now we have to be more suspect.

I didn't like the plug he gave near the end either, and I haven't really dug into the cited studies yet, but plan on it. Just found it interesting as the 20-30g thing is an oft tossed about guideline, but when I ask people about it, I get "oh read it some where" or "oh I heard it from a guy at the gym". No one can ever seem to cite the source or any basis for it.
I do wonder why you find Tom Venuto's article more compelling. In one the author cited and provided links to over a dozen studies. In the other two.

and to be fair, a plug for a supplement doesn't necessarily mean that the article is crap or the supplement for that matter
Venuto has discussed his approval of many Biotest supplements. I don't think he is without value because of it.
Tom's article used science, whereas the other used poorly formed extrapolations. It had more references, but that was worse in a way. With that much data, then why couldn't he provide more real science? It was a lot of assuming and justifying.
while everyone was arguing about carbs, fat and science garbage, I just smashed my PR for squats.
Train hard.
I'm not sure of the point of that post. ...self aggrandizing much?
I killed my workout hours ago, also with a personal best.
Jesus Christ do you have to turn everything around.
I was making the point in a joking matter that you can argue 9 pages worth of crap, or you can get off your ass and do some work.
We were all able to also do our work and don't need for you to come in and monitor things or tell us that.
These guys are so impressed by you Charles
I went out walking through the city center, it happened just the other day. Sometimes Sydney Harbor in the winter, blows a little luck my way.

So I totally stopped following the BFL diet a few weeks back and moved to a low carb diet and my weight loss has really picked up. I didn't read this thread but it seems like the only way I lose weight is if I cut the carbs down. I can eat the same amount of calories and still lose weight. When I get to my goal weight I plan to slowly increase the carbs until I plateau.. I didn't read this whole thread but there is a lot of bad info out there on fats/carbs. I keep my carbs under 20 a day right now with most of that coming from Veggies.
Convo, I was advise you to be careful. It might be fluid loss, or you are in Ketosis, which in the ends leads to more fat when you add back in the carbs. It's only good for short term weight loss.

I have many friends who did low carbing, and ended up gaining the weight back fast, and quickly.

You need carbs for proper hydration and that's regardless of how much water you drink. Weight loss right now is likely not fat. You should get a bod bod or dexa done if you are going to go about it this way.
Hey, thx for the feedback guys. I didn't want to name drop what i'm following b/c this is a BFL site but since it's coming up I'm doing the new Atkins diet. I'm earing a large amount of veggies. It just so happens they are not overly high in carbs. Again, there is a lot of info out there supporting all kinds of diets. For years our diets consisted mostly of high fat/protein and low carbs. My suggestion is to read up from different sources and experiment with them. My plan is to stick with my current diet for 1 more week and each week start adding 5carbs a week in form of fruits/beans until I my weight stays where I want it. Also check out the documentary Fat Head. It's pretty interesting.
People on Adkins have hydration issues and have trouble building lean body weight because carbs are necessary for muscle repair. There's also the insulin issue. You need all your proper macronutrients to mange your insulin. I can appreciate wanting to learn more, change things up and get different results. Many people here are read up from many different sources. I'm just confused by your comment about bad information on fats and carbs. I wish you the best and hope you get the results you're looking for.
Convo - read on bodybuilding.com about the ANABOLIC DIET, Carb Cycling and Warrior Diet... there is plenty of good stuff there......
