Has anyone tried the protein pancake recipe on this cite?? I've attempted twice now. First time all the oats stayed in the middle while the wet stuff ran off in every direction. Then I tried putting it in the blender hoping the oats would mix better with the egg mixture.... NO LUCK!
Has anyone had any luck with this recipe? Did you modify the ingredients at all? I'm at a lost. My pancake looks like a combiation of scrambled eggs and pancakes.
It doesn't taste bad at all, but if its suppose to be a pancake I would like it to look like one =)
Chocolate Covered Broccoli
I haven't experienced this problem. I don't know what it could be???
ChocoBroc...The first time I made the pancakes (are you talking about the ones with egg whites, cottage cheese and oats?) it was horrible!
I mix up the 12 egg whites, vanilla, splenda first, add the cottage cheese, then start adding the oats (I start with the 2 cups then work up to where it's pretty thick) and blend. You might need more oats.
I spray the griddle every time so they don't stick...
They are delish if you can get the batter right. Hope it works for you!
I'm making a big batch in the morning! =)
DebMO :0) Blessed to be a Blessing...
The recipe I found calls for 1/2 of yogurt, 2 whole eggs 1 egg white, 1 scoop of protein powder, 1/2 cup of oats and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.
What is the cottage cheese recipe?? It sounds a lot better....
Oh it's much better...I didn't know which one you were talking about...Let me see if I have it from my memory! This is doubled so makes about 12 pancakes...
12 egg whites, about a tsp vanilla, 2 pkts splenda; blend that in blender for a few seconds...
Add 1 cup 1% or nonfat Cottage Cheese, blend that til it is mixed up.
Add 2 cups oats, blend that up, I always end up adding more so it's more like 2 1/2 cups, but I mix it to where it's kinda a thick consistency.
Spray griddle, I make my pancakes about 3-4 inches wide.
Hope this works for you...they are delicious!! Let me know!! =)
OOOH WHOOOO!!! Thank you Deb!!! I will let you know, it sounds much better.. I'm excited to try it.
FORGOT...ADD Cinnamon!! =)
this morning I made this one:
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup of cottage cheese
4 egg whites
2 tsp vanilla
dash of cinnamon (sp?)
1 scoop of protein powder
all blended up in the blender until it was smooth - this took some scraping with the spatula about 10 times.
I had to use lots of spray, it was supposed to make 2 servings - that must be for guys - they turned out pretty good, they did tend to stick some and cooked better with the temperature up a little higher than medium. I will make them again - it was my free day so I put syrup on them.
I do 1/2c oats, 1/2c cottage cheese, 3 egg whites, splenda & dash cinnimon. Blend up realllly well in blender or magic bullet, and make one huge pancake on pam sprayed pre-heated skillet. SO YUMMY and filling. On my cheat day I put it in a waffle maker instead, top with cinnimon and splenda once cooked, spread peanut butter & SF mrs. butterworth on it. You'll swear it's cheating, but really not bad! Better than the local waffle shops version.
A protein powder one I do is banana chocolate. 1/2 cup old fashioned oats,
1/2 small mashed banana, 1/2 scoop chocolate Protein powder, 1 egg white
splenda, and little bit of banana flavored sf ff pudding mix. (2grams) little splash of water to make more batter like consistency. plop on pre heated griddle. YUM!
Hmm the ones i do have no cottage cheese in them, for 10 pancakes (I have 2 for a meal) i do
2.5 cups oat bran (finer than oats)
5 scoops of my protein powder (this equals 100g with 5g carbs)
10 egg whites
1/2 cup water
I just mix it all together and then cook with a spray cooking oil

It helps if you first beat the eggs and then blend in one ingredient at a time. the oats come in last. use a whisk or a large fork. The batter turns out nice and even
Y'all are making me hungry with all the different variations...going to have to make me some now!! =)
I tried them for the first time this morning. Yes they were runny at first but then as they cooked it did bind together. Try either letting the batter sit for a while to expand the oats and soak up some of the liquid. Or try processing the oats by themselves first to make it more like a flour consistency. I am going to try that next time. Hope that is of some help
I tried the cottage cheese one and I must admit I was skeptical about mixing cottage cheese, eggs and oats, but it was soooo good! This is going to be a new regular receipe for me! And I may even start trying protein powder ones too! Thanks for this yummy treat.
Those of you who make big batches- How do you store them? Fridge or Freezer?
