Anyone have a copy of the original challenge diet that Bill Phillips posted in Muscle Media? I have searched high and low and cannot find any information on it. I've heard it was really strict and different from what is written in the book. I'd like to have a look at it if anyone has any information on it or perhaps a link to it.
I have the entire Muscle Media collection on CD and will see if I can drum it up. It is what's in the book, though in the strictest form. It was NOTHING like Eating for Life, the cookbook. There weren't things like whole wheat waffles. It was hardcore BFL, strictest and best options, and certainly not all out free days. You will find it's not on target with fats, though. Our knowledge about dietary fat has drastically shifted since originally published in Muscle Media, nearly 20 years ago. They thought saturated fat was bad for you then. They were wrong... way wrong. That being said, it wasn't fatty options for the sake of them. Adding in whole good fats is good, not making excuses for poor choices. Anyway... I'm rambling and have a busy day with business, though will see if I can find it on digital copy for you and link later... maybe tomorrow.
Jessica Mighty Max ~ 2013 Body-for-LIFE Champion ~ Champion is a VERB!
I would love to see that too Jessica, thanks for looking for us. :D
BTW you can now get Eating for Life as an iTune app
Barb, Just to clarify for any novice reading this... Eating for Life is far from the "original list" and even more liberal than the list on this site.... just sayin If you are new to BFL, please do not use Eating for Life until you understand the basic prinicpals and PORTION sizes - you will not get the results you are after.
Obstacles are the quickest way to decipher the
winners from the losers....
Yes Debs I know Eating For Life is not the same as the original BFL book.
Update... I found the actual CDs. It's the Muscle Media Encyclopedia, a complete archive of Muscle Media from spring 1992-July 2002. What I have not yet done is to pop in the CD and search. Gosh I hope it's in those years! Now I'm curious, just crazy busy this week.
The contest, which was not then called Body-for-LIFE, was first introduced in the 56th MM, January 1997. It didn't lay out the plan the way I believe you were hoping to see. Readers of MM would have already been exposed to Bill's approach, and he talked about the contest in his next several issues. It's very bodybuilding of that time so do overlook the cheese... and bro-science. I'm able to save the issue in PDF and will happily email it to you, as well as the next few, which include Q&A about the challenge. firstname.lastname@example.org
Mighty Max- I sent you an e-mail to the address you listed above. Haven't seen you on here lately, but just wanted to make sure you got it.
I responded last night. Check your spam! Thanks for pinging me back... I do tend to get lost in things.
Jessica- I checked all of my folders and it's not there. I'm guessing that the file might have been too big for a yahoo account. I'll e-mail you from my work e-mail (it has no size restriction). If you could forward it there for me. Thanks!
Come to find out the size restriction was from my end. My server wouldn't do it I sent again from Gmail, which had me do it through Google Drive, because of the size. Let me know if you didn't get it. Thanks!
