Are we allowed to eat peanut butter on the BFL program? For some reason, I thought it was in the allowed food list in the BFL book. Then a friend pointed out to me that peanut butter isn't in the allowed food list. I'm thinking maybe at the time the book was written, there weren't enough low sugar peanut butters around. Are there any lower sugar, lower fat peanut or almond butters out there? PB on a slice of whole wheat bread makes a great snack at work. I used to eat it around 3:00 with a cup of black coffee.
Okay, I noticed peanut butter is on the allowed list on this website (I forgot the food lists were posted here). Anyway, what kinds of peanut butter is good to eat? The ones in most supermarkets seem to be the unhealthy varieties.
Two things to look for on the back of the label is Saturated Fat and Sugar. Pick the ones with the lowest, as the brands can vary HUGELY in this.
Peanut butter will always be high in energy and fat, but in general it is the good kind.
The other thing to loo for is PORTION SIZE! It is so easy to just slather it on everything, watch the knife! :)
sugar free jam on toast is a great option, only 10 calories per serving. P Nut butter is HIGH in calories!
Also don't be afraid to get that protein in even on your rest days. Since you'll be recovering still from exercise you'll need it to build muscle but it also helps keep fat away too I believe.
Nothing wrong with peanut butter, just in moderation. I look for ones that have one ingredients, just nuts. I also play around with others like almond or cashew butter, they give me a break. But, if you want to go with something that is lower in calories, lower in fat, and you can have more of, then try PB2, amazing alternative and you don't give up much in the way of flavor and consistency, an be found in whole foods and other healthier grocery stores.

I will look at your blog. Thanks for posting. I'm such a meat lover that I always end up getting protein on my free days. I usually have an omelette with meat and cheese on my free day as well.
Yeah, I will be checking PB labels when I go shopping. I was thinking my local supermarket is not the best place to look for a healthy PB. By my job, we have a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods. I'm going to stop in those stores and see what they have. We also have a real health food store nearby as well.
