Anyone know if bananas and blueberries are "okay" to eat as your carb? It seems like they would be, but I can't find any definitive answer.
I have blueberries quite often in my protein shakes. They are rated low on the glycemic index and a good anti-oxidant. When I'm looking at a fruit that may not be on the list I just make sure its low glycemic.
A cup of blueberries is a great carb portion from everything I can see.

I agree with BCbil I also look for low glycemic foods. As long as you stick to one cup you can have any fruit you want as your carb portion. I used to eat bananas when I trained for a fitness competition. I don't believe they are low on the glycemic index but I got down to 6 percent body fat eating one daily, my trainer at the time told me 1 cup of any fruit would work.

Thanks guys! :)
Bananas become more sugary as they ripen so keep that in mind. They are perfect for your post workout meal if they are small. I don't eat them every day, but I do eat them after any heavy leg work out.

I saw in the sample meals in the BFL book that there was also a banana mentioned. I agree with Champster09 that you should not have it sit too long. Don't eat if it is already brown. I read that it can even contain alcohol when they ripen. I like bananas since they fill me up really good. I would think a protein shake and half a banana post workout should be ok.
