What an Eye Opener

  • Now, if you follow the link, obviously NONE of these fit into a non free BFL day. But I found the article very interesting as I was very guilty of falling into the

"it's only a chicken burger" or "I'll eat healthy and order the wrap" trap at a fast food joint or restaurant. You know the one, you stop for a quick bite to eat and convince yourself that while its fast food if you order what looks "healthy" like chicken or a salad at least you aren't gobbling down the double cheese burger.

Have a look at some of the heart clogging calories.

One real shocking find in there. Cheese Cake factory Kids Pasta with Alfredo 1800 Calories! 87g of fat and 876mg of sodium. That's the entire recommended caloric intake for a sub teen kid in one small bowl of pasta.

Making us fat one misleading marketing campaign after another.

  • "America is an Eating Disorder"

    OMG! LOL.

    Amerirexia?

  • We absolutely are.  And it doesn't help that our tastebuds are so adapted to foods filled with preservatives, fat, and sodium.  Unforunately, they aren't only at fast food but also the grocery store, especially if you don't shop the perimeter.

My kids are having a really hard time making the transition to clean food.  ("It just doesn't taste right."  LOL.)  I read an article once that said it can take up to two weeks to adjust to "blander" food.  In the end, I know its worth it to eat a steamed carrot and know that what you are tasting is pure, healthy, delicious carrot.  Not to mention the body that results from healthier food choices.  :)

  • The sad thing is we are exporting our dis-functional North American eating habits all over the world.

Grtmom, I'm sure it must be hell getting kids to eat cleaner. While I don't have kids, I (and most of us) can clearly remember being that kid and hating veggies and such, and that was 30 years ago when fast food habits weren't nearly so prevalent as they are today.
