Hi
I can only speak from experience, don't do it!!
Last night I thought I'd have a beer, that turned into 2 (prob. would of had a 3rd. but didn't have anymore)
But thats not the worse of it, thought I'd have a handful of ff croutons, that turned into 2 until I finished the bag and went onto a bowl of ice cream...
Afterwards I felt soo bad and disguested with myself.
Back on trac today.
B4L page 124: "An occasional glass or two of wine is fine. But you must use moderation."
I occasionally have a glass with dinner, even on non-free days. Then again, I'm not out to lose fat so much as to lose muscle. I think sixpackmission's comments are right though - it does cross my mind- how will this impact on my final result?
Hi Running Mom!
I confess to a glass of wine (small) with dinner once a week, not on free day. But I don't have any alcohol issues, can always stop at one and it is weird that every now and then I crave a glass of wine on this program.
Moderation is always key, right?
Jen
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten!
My FOURTH Challenge: May 23-Aug. 14, 2011. Began First BFL Challenge on June 21, 2010
You could try a different appraoch to the freeday which would allow you to have wine during the week, its whats practiced by those that do Dr John Berardis Precision Nutrition program, basically what he recommends is that 90% compliance of ones nutrition is all thats needed to get great results, so for example,6 meals a day over 7 days is 42 meals, 90% of this is 38 meals which means spread out throughout the week you can have 4 meals that are not healthy or not bfl meals, bare in mind these 4 meals are small indulgences, for example, that glass of wine or 1 beer could be used in place of 1 meal, a slice of pizza in place of another meal, a small popcorn and a diet coke in place of another, do you see where im going with this, small indulgences not bingeing
I'm not strong enough to stop after Just One beer. I will eventually drink a 2nd, then 3rd then I will finish off however many are left. If there aren't enough left in the fridge, I'll drive tothe corner liquor store and get more. Then after I'm happily toasted, I'll get the munchies, and eat everything in sight that I've been depriving myself of over the last 6 weeks.
Drinking is a bad cycle for me.

Thanks for all the good info - this is my first week on the challenge and I reacted to a really stressful day with 2 glasses of wine and immediately felt guilty for "blowing it". On top of that , I couldn't get my butt out of bed this morning for my cardio - which I am about to go do now that the day has started.
What I have noticed is that my desire for wine/beer has decreased even after only one week. That probably has to do with focusing on planning my workouts and meals for the next day instead of just plopping down and watching TV all night as opposed to changing any habits at this point.
Who in the world would want to lose muscle?
I waited until my free day and I enjoyed my glass of wine! Wahoo!
After posting this ALCOHOL forum I took in everyone's comments and waited until my free day to enjoy that glass. Friday was my free day..I am so glad I waited. I think I enjoyed the glass more since I knew I was allowed that day. I also enjoyed some pizza and ice cream. Honestly, other than that one meal I think I actually ate pretty healthy on my free day. Something must be already changing in me because I did not crave as much "bad stuff" as I thought I would.
Today, I am happy to be back on the plan and at the start of another great week on BFL.
By the way, the BFL book does say that you can have a glass of wine at dinner if you'd like and it isn't "against" the program. Look in the food plan sections. I am choosing to wait til my free day but for those inquring minds, you can. HOWEVER, if you aren't able to just have one then don't do it at all!!
Your choice. You know yourself...Some of you have commented that you can't have just one, it turns into 2 and 3 and then binging...Those people can not have one and I am sure you would know if you are one of those people.
Hope everyone is doing great and getting Ripped!!! :0)

Here's a good read regarding alcohol while trying to build muscle.

Love you some you...PERSEVERE!
Thanks for sharing Sharon! Good article!
With little weight to lose but muscle to gain on my end I find these little "fine tuning" changes very important for me. Little things like only having a drink once or twice a week, cutting out sugar, and lifting weights is making a Big Difference quickly! It is So Motivating!!!
