The ever constant Apply & String Cheese or Cottage Cheese and Yogurt are getting boring - at least a couples but not as individuals - i need your snack ideas. Thanks ever so much!! OH and can anyone tell me - I can see 2 Hard Boiled Eggs and an Orange in the snack section of Eating for Life BUT how often in a week can you have that and still expect to loose weight, which i am trying to do? You guys ARE the BEST!!
CoryLife IS GoodNot in BFL challenge currently
Cory, first of all, you have another "convo" :) 2nd, string cheese is not an authorized food out of the original BFL book...
What about Greek yogurt (protein source believe it or not) with berries, do you do protein shakes? I just had my 4th meal of a shake and apple, 2 hard boiled eggs only have 12g of protein, an egg white only has 3.5 so I would go with 1 whole and at least 3 whites of the hard boiled eggs for the snack...you want to get at least 20g protein/carbs per meal. Roughly it's one gram of protein per lb. of body wt. that you want to consume during the day.
Don't worry about eating too much cause if you are working out intensely your body will need that fuel to burn for energy!
I'm kinda boring with my in between meals...my body has adapted which is great for me cause life is so chaotic these days!
Hope this helps a bit! :)
DebMO :0) Blessed to be a Blessing...
Hi Cory I am new in this program, but how about cottage cheese with strawberries and stevia. I found that delicious :) I am not sure if you can add little peanut butter for taste.. that is even better :) I used to have also egg whites with hummus.. but I am not sure about the hummus.
I struggled a little with this at first. What helped me was to think of having 6 mini meals instead of meals and snacks. You want to have equal portions of protien/carbs regardless. When cooking always make extra so you have food readily available(planned-overs), divide up for portion control..like grab-n-go.
Kabobs: shrimp w/ yams + veg , steak w/broccoli ,onion, you name it.... skewer it, season it then grill/broil easy and yummy
Freeze strawberries or diced apples then blend with a scoop of protien powder and a little water to make a healthy ice cream (drink extra water to help dilute the protien powder)
Roll Ups: Use whole wheat tortillas add: ham + mustard, tuna w/cucumbers, lean ground meat w/salsa...use your imagination
Hope this helps!
i like to make "deviled eggs" just use the egg white from the boiled eggs and put cottage chesse in there. make sure you check the nuti label but i usually use a serving of cc and 3 eggs comes out to about 22 -25 g of protein and a piece of fruit. its different and I usually eat it alone because i think you would have to be doing the program to understand but give it a shot if you want.
I really like those Wasa crackers... they are hearty as heck and very healthy for you.... spread some horseradish and top with a few slices of turkey. oh so yummy! you can also put cottage cheese on a wasa with fresh chives and tomato slices oh yeah!
Thanks everyone these are great ideas - appreciate all of you!!! :)
I thought crackers were not on the approved food list?
2 of my favorite snacks that i have almost daily:
1/2 c milk (or use water)
1/2 c vanilla greek yogurt (or fat free vanilla yogurt)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 c frozen (or fresh) strawberries
blend in blender. drink right away or stick in freezer for about an hour.
protein packed pudding
1 1/2 c cottage cheese
1 small box of fat free, sugar free jello pudding (any flavor-my fav is cheesecake)
1/4 c milk
4 oz fat free cool whip
blend all except cool whip in blender. place in bowl w/ 1/2 small container of fat free cool whip. mix and refrigerate for at least an hour. this makes 2 servings. (you can even leave cool whip out).
Diane-they are not approved according to the original BFL book! How are you doing?? :) And how's Sluggo?!
jaypbee-those sound delish, will print off and try!! Thanks! :)
OK i am very interested - what is Greek Yogurt? And where do you get it?
jaypbee - these do sound delish - almost like cheating with the pudding - and both of these really are a protein/carb meal/snack and are "clean" on the program? Amazing - thanks for the info.
I can remember when i was doing one of the leading name weight loss programs and we used cottage cheese in a lot of different ways - one way i can remember was to send it through a blender with some skim fat free milk, just to thin it a little bit and then add the Hidden Valley Ranch Buttermilk packet (not all of it just to taste) so you had Buttermilk Dip for your veggies that was OK - if you can figure out how that breaks down for the BFL way of eating let me know - it may not work, just not sure.
Cory-I get my Greek yogurt at Wal-Mart, but I'm sure any big chain grocery store would have it...It's a protein source, I didn't think I would like it, but get it occasionally (kinda pricey), vanilla flavor and add some berries to it...
Hope you are having a splendid day! :)
Does it really say "Greek Yogurt" on the label?
I usually just buy the Light & Fit from Dannon - couldn't find anything that wasn't completely sugar free.
Hi Girl, I have been extremely nauseated since tuesday and it has been a BIG struggle to eat the 6 BFL meals, I admit I haven't been on plan but have still managed to do pretty good. Whenever my stress level is sky high my body reacts this way. I usually just throw up non-stop but this time it's just extreme nausea. Normally I would have beat myself up for messing up but not this time. I am being positive and will just do better next week. Sluggo is still his stinky, ill-mannered,spoiled brat self who happens to bring me complete unconditional love and peace. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and your Mothers day is filled with happiness.
