Hi all! I am so thankful for this forum and the support it is giving me on a daily basis to see this challenge through. I am on day 24 of my challenge.
Here is my issue: I ate so well the first two weeks, but I was also taking a fat burner that helped curb my appetite. Last week I noticed myself being irritable with my two kids (I'm a single mom, not that it matters here), and my moods were literally all over the place! I quit taking the fat burners Monday this week (Day 21). Now, my food cravings are back, I want to eat more at a sitting than the correct portion, etc. How to combat this? BTW, My work outs are great, I hit my tens and am getting stronger. I really enjoy it.
I didn't take pictures when I started because I just didn't want to see myself this weight and was embarrassed, but now I've decided to post them and keep myself accountable and motivated to complete this inner and outer transformation. Completing this 84 day challenge will mean that I have completed something worthwhile that's just for me, when I haven't done ANYTHING for myself, or seen anything that was difficult or challenging through in years. So here are my photos.
One DRIVE mama! Woo hoo! You are in the driving seat girl! No passengers allowed. Your trip, your journey, your destination.
I could tell you stories about "fat burners" .... but here's the thing. WATER is a fat burner. CLEAN FOOD that is utilized efficiently and smoothly instead of plugging up all the pipes .... is a fat burner. MUSCLE is a fat burner. REST is a fat burner.
If you depend on some magic pill sweetie, you rely on IT to do the work. It wont. YOU are in charge here. Your head is stronger than some cheap pill you buy online. There is no magic pill, only those that mess with your hormones .... now grab that neck of yours, squeeze tight, and screw that pretty VERY ABLE head on tight.
Buckle up and drive that body to where it needs to go.
i cant wait to see a huge SMILE on a more happy and confident proudofyourselffordoingBFLdrugfree woman!!! ;)
Thank you for the support, Legsy! I guess I never thought of a fat burner as doing drugs, I thought of it as a supplement that I could use to boost my hard work. But those darn pills definitely make me feel as if I am not right, and that is not worth it. I'm gonna see this through without those damn yucky pills!
Hey there! Good for you! Doing something FOR YOU!
It takes a lot of guts to put ourselves out there... Cudo's to you! I haven't done mine as yet because my last after pics are still up... and well... it's just shameful really.... I started on the 20th Jan and am in my 4th week... C4Wk4D5, I will be doing measurements this weekend, you just gave me the courage to bite the bullet... (maybe lol)..
As Legsy said above.... wouldn't it be great to just take a pill and have it melt away... but what we are trying to do here is develop new good habits so that we don't need those pills....set a great example for your kids.... you have to WORK HARD if you want something bad enough in life... they will have so much respect for you! I am really working on the "for life" thing this challenge and this year for that matter... I've been successful before.. but things just weren't "right" then... I can see why I failed...
Anyways... couple thoughts....
It's probably a let down from the pills... mucking with your hormones like Legsy said...
Drink two glasses of water 30 - 15 min before your eat (are you getting a gallon in)
When finished eating - get up and do something, anything to take your mind off the food.... Get on line and read inspirational stories from past champions if you can - read a fitness magazine (without food in it lol)
The foods you crave - are they your fav's on freeday that you indulge in? How is your Freeday? Is it a big DAY feast of a meal feast... If you really want to beat an addiction to a food group - stay completely away from it for at least 2 freedays - then on the third.. have a little and see how it makes you feel... I haven't had any diet coke and rum for 26 days now - feel awesome to kick that terrible habit..
Please come and join our big group "Calling all Lifers - 6th Jan game day"
We are all very motivated to finish the 12 weeks, no matter what!
Wish you all the best
Obstacles are the quickest way to decipher the
winners from the losers....
Thank you Debs! Words of wisdom there, and I appreciate you sharing. I will go and join the Calling all Lifers group. I crave chips and cheese, salty foods like peanuts or cashews. I have been getting a gallon of water in, and that feels great! I'm going to get up and get my mind on something else after eating my correct portions. I think that might just work.
As far as your pics before beginning this challenge, I think life has its ups and downs. Things come up and change circumstances, change is inevitable. You are here and back on your game. That's all that matters! Lets do this...
My True Story: Stop Taking Weight Loss Supplements
A little over three months ago I had been starting and stopping BFL while using the fat burner OxyElite Pro. Then one morning when watching the morning news I discovered it had been pulled from the shelves for multiple-health concerns. I went to the computer to do some research and was scared by what I read. OxyElite Pro had caused some of its users to have liver damage and even strokes.
As I read I got dizzy, went to the floor, and literally passed out for a few seconds.
The rest of the morning was spent in urgent care where I had an EKG and a C-Scan on my brain. Fortunately, they came back fine. However, a follow up appointment with my primary care physician revealed I had high cholesterol and blood sugar, and low testosterone levels.
I promptly re-committed myself to BFL with my only true goals of getting my blood results back into healthy ranges. Today marked the end of Week-11. I have not missed a workout and eat according to the plan. As of last Sunday (I weigh in once a week), I am down over 15 lbs from 195.0 to 179.4.pounds and I have gained strength. All without the use of OxyElite Pro or any other similar product.
This marks the first time in my life that I have gotten into shape without using a weight loss supplement and my results have been just as good without them than on them. I hate to think of the money I have wasted on these products over the years.
Follow the program. You don't need a supplement. They could be doing you more harm than good.
Dan, Thank you for sharing that story! That must have been so scary to go through for you. I'm glad you are doing better than ever now, and feeling better. I'm also glad I posted about my issue with them on this forum. I took them for 20 days, and that was enough for the rest of my life! Today is Day 28 of my challenge that I WILL finish and do my BEST on. The horrible cravings and sleepiness I was encountering (as withdrawal from that Super HD fat burner from GNC I was taking) are gone. Tomorrow morning is weigh and measure day (I started on a Tuesday, I know that's weird but I had to just do it already :)), so I am going to stay accountable and put myself out there with pics and measurements tomorrow morning.
You are right, following the program is all we need! My self esteem is already improving, my attitude in general, and I'm seeing physical progress. Great job on your progress as well! Impressive, Mister!
Yay for you Caroline!
So pleased you ditched the pills and trusting yourself to DO THIS BECAUSE YOU NEED TO! Look forward to your changes as the weeks go by! Sleep well!
