Wow, things aren't so good today. Started day 1 with planned meals and upper body at the gym... man, that totally kicked my ass. I was so exhausted on day 2, but did the cardio anyway. Today I am so sore I am sick. I don't know that I can make it to the gym tonight cause I sort of need to be close by to a bathroom at all times and I don't think the exertion leg day will require will be such a good idea given my condition. Not good at all. I'm thinking of skipping today and making it up on Sat, my free day. At least I'm eating good today.
::: Day 1 - 210#, 42.75" waist
hi shane, i too am on day 3 this really is a shock to the system, i am aching but not too badly. but last night i really thought i was going to be physically sick. i am struggling with eating 6 meals, and i think i'm eating too large portions, and the water is bloating me. but i think i'm going to get better with this as the weeks go by.
if you really can't stay away from a bathroom, i'd suggest having a rest at least until your feeling better. i keep telling myself this is a marathon, not a sprint, pace yourself to start with and finish strong.
My success is your success.
Warning: This post contains a frank and honest discussion on the restroom
Hey Jeff Shane,
First off, congratulations on starting. You are only a few weeks away from making some remarkable changes in not just your body, but how you feel overall. Looking back, the times when I got into shape have often been the happiest days in my life. I am now on Week 10, and I feel like I have been on a natural high for a few days now.
Regarding the restroom:
Your time spent in the restroom is one of the dirty little secrets that isn’t talked about much because frankly it is kind of gross and it hard to be raw – raw about it. However, it’s a natural part of the process.
A portion of your excess body weight, in addition to fat, is actually stored toxins from all of the bad food and beverages you have consumed.
Starting BFL means consuming more water, eating healthy, and exercise. All of which helps our bodies on the road to naturally clean itself of this toxins. They are released through sweat, pee, really stinky farts, and stinky big craps.
Early on, if you weigh yourself before and after a BM you may notice the scale move down.
The upside: Most people who do the challenge experience some significant weight loss in the first few weeks. If you were way out of shape, it wouldn’t be surprising if you loss 3.0 lb – 7.0 lbs a week for the first week or so.
Then after a month or so you will notice that very little comes out of you because your body is utilizing the majority of all of the healthy stuff you are consuming. I actually notice my largest BMs are typically on Monday’s after a Sunday off day.
The downside: After your body rids itself of the bulk of these toxins, your weight loss tends to dramatically slow down. This is when a lot of people quit. They fail to complete the challenge because they think they have hit a wall and the fat is no longer rapidly melting away.
They may even get really frustrated when they gain some weight in a week. What they are not realizing is the weight they gained was the muscle they added and that the fat is still coming off. However, they are no longer losing all of the toxin weight.
Bottom line: The frequent trips to restroom that you are experiencing is a good sign that you are off to a great start.
Keep up the good work! You have only just begun!
i have found since i started this diet i have had a lot of smelly wind. luckily i work away from my work mates, so no problem.
what is the main cause of this excess wind ?
Shane, hang in there. I too will have to make up a workout on my free day. It's not the best way to do things but at least we're doing. I'm starting out slow the first week because I've had injuries set me back before. Some might poo poo this, but I'm determined to get where I want to be at the end, and I'm no spring chicken. Ditto what Dan said. Jeff the bloated feeling might be the Betagen,( I think that was you) unless it's just gastrointestinal. When I took it for my first challenge it made me feel all puffed up. I know for me it also has to do with the CLA I take. I try to take it with my meals at home so I don't have the bathroom issues at work.
