Day 1 to 84, my experience!

  • I am a Microsoft server systems and applications administrator.  I have spent the majority of my 15 year career sitting all day every day.  I have never considered myself as in shape.  I had a co-worker tell me about Mr. Bill Phillips Body for Life program last year.  I borrowed the book around Thanksgiving last year.  I found that I was really motivated after reading the book and excited about starting and completing the challenge.
My goal was to simply finish the challenge other than that, I set very achievable and realistic goals along the 12 weeks.  I went in having limited free weight lifting experience so I planned for a learning curve and knew that my 12 weeks would not be perfect.  I knew it was going to be difficult so I leaned on the online community for support and I asked my wife to join me on this 12 week journey.
I think the fact that my wife completed this challenge with me was one of the keys to my personal success.  The other key is this forum here.  This community is stacked with knowledgeable, friendly, and committed people.  THANK YOU ALL!  You were a huge part of my success.
I went 10 weeks without missing a single workout and eating clean about 99.9% of the time.  I hit a really hard time personally the week of Easter and fell off the wagon for the first time.  I had trouble getting back up to the commitment level after I missed that first workout and kind of limped in across the finish line these last 2 weeks.  Over the 12 weeks my wife missed about 10 workouts.  We both have decided to add an additional 2 weeks to this first challenge to feel like we gave it everything we had.  To feel like we gave it an honest 84 days.
I failed to do the body measurements before I started, mainly because I did not hold any expectations.  I took the before pictures but was really disgusted by how they looked I deleted them.  Being a computer geek I was able to recover the deleted pictures after 8 weeks in when I noticed some physical changes and was having people notice the transformation.
On the scale I started out at 238 pounds.  Standing on the scale I am at 216 so that is a total of 22 pounds lost!  I am amazed with how much better I am feeling, how much more confidence I have.  I have been on blood pressure medication for about 5 years, about 4 weeks I took myself off the medication because my blood pressure was going very low.  I have been keeping a close eye on it over the last few weeks and it is normal without medication.  I have a full physical and blood work in 2 weeks and can’t wait to get the results from my blood work!
I will follow up in another 2 weeks with my transformation pictures because I am proud of what I have accomplished.
One last shout out to my friends in the !st Week in February thread!  You all are awesome!  you allowed me to almost post my daily updates and helped me keep moving forward.  Island_Dude, You ROCK!  Mads1393, YOU were a huge inspiration to me, thanks!, BCTD you stuck with it right there with me, THANK YOU!, I know others were right there with us so if I did not mention you hopefully you are all proud at what you have accomplished!
