week 6, day 5 today (legs) i am soooooo exausted that im finding it hard to stand for long, my workout this morning was terrible as a result, my body just wouldnt take it at all! im strong mentally, but seriously im wondering if i should take a day off? I hate taking time off, but i think my body this time is really telling me something. I walk around like a zombie and my normal outgoing self is so tired even cracking a smile is hard work - lol...
You could be fighting a virus or cold coming on. I took yesterday off and feel so much better today. I'm fighting a cold. If you have a hot tub or sauna nearby, don't forget to treat yourself to that or a massage -- all low in calories lol ;-)
Also, make sure you are eating enough. Don't skimp on carbohydrates - by the half way point your body reaaaallly needs those!
What have you been eating day to day?
How long do you workout every day?
If you are eating well enough and exercising right your energy should increase. I feel the way you do when I skip meals or schedule an extra swim or exercise session.
Courage isn't lack of fear. It's our ability to carry on despite our fear
Agree, they should. Im eating my portions and havent changed that in any way to cut carbs etc.. this whole week has been terrible in terms of energy, so im staying in bed today. Im hoping this is a phase and it will pass - fingers crossed!!
I remember a colleague said the same thing about eating right, then when she posted what she ate for the day, and with the help of another colleague, she found out she was eating only 700 calories a day.
If you like, could you post a sample of your meal plan?. What is happening to you is not normal.
Spinney, I hope you are not coming down with anything. But if you are, you will just have to let your body recover. I got very sick in week six of challenge 1, I ended up in bed for a full week. But I ate clean the whole time. I was able to get right back to my workouts and my only problem was my lungs for the cardio (due to asthma). Sometimes we do get sick when doing massive changes. Hope you aren't but if you do, just let your body heal, and you will come back strong.
And as others have said, drink your water, sleep 8 hours a night. and eat your full portions.
Hey Ruby and thanks to all the posts. I have been this way all week, but today has been the worst... meals eaten today
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs (2 egg whites, 1 egg yolk) + 1 piece whole grain toast
Mid morning: Greek yoghurt plus mixed with a bit of protein powder
Lunch: Lettuce: ½ tomato, capsicum, shredded boiled chicken, 1 potato
Mid Afternoon: Protein shake with mix of skim milk and water
Dinner: stir-fry with steak and mash potato (skin left on)
Bout 10 glasses water
P.S. I use the Horleys protein meal replacement drink which has equal carb/protein mix
Spinney - I eat about 6 egg whites at a crack or 1 whole egg and 4-5 whites. I think there is 6-7g of protein per egg. That 1st meal might be setting up your whole day in a deficit of energy.
Wow, ok thats deff worth taking note of, i sorta went with 3 cause from what I recall Bill Phillips does 4 (3 egg whites, 1 whole egg) in the book. But ill look to up that and perhaps have 2 wholegrain toast not just the one
Spinney, not sure you are getting enough carbs to be honest. I may be wrong but have done this before and found i really needed a portion of carbs with every meal. not always easy to do but you really can tell the difference just generally and during workouts when you are getting the right amount. Hope it helps and you feel better soon.
Spinney, one meal is missing.
For my body weight this is no where near enough carbs for me. If i ate that, I'd be dragging my feet all week. I tried it. When i started dragging my feet, I upped my carbs a bit. Now i exercise better and don't need days off. (I actually have to go to the boxing club so i was wondering in another post if i need yet an extra protion).
Experiment a little, till you feel good. BFL should make you have more energy if done right.
Are you cheating on the portion size? :o) Like a closed finger size instead of fist size?
A good way to know if what you're eating is causing the problem or not is to go to calorie-count.com and assess the foods you are eating for carb and protein content. (after you log in everything you click on a link called "analysis", it analyses your carbs versus protein, fat etc. You don't have to do it all the time. Only the first time(s) to get the hang of things.
I went throught the same lack of energy around week 5. For me it was not drinking enough water. Make certain you are drinking at a minimum 1/2 your body weight in ounces. A little more would be better. Test it out and see if you feel more energized.
Ruby i went to that website and clearly don't know how to engage my brain cause i can't figure out how to enter all im eating to get the calorie intake - lol
Hey Spinney, I was the same for the first few weeks and upped my carbs a bit and had to drink more water (another litre per day). I add fruit as a carb as I'm trying to keep away from pasta and bread. I just finished week 6, and only now feel like I have the energy I was meant to have. I was dragging for the first month at least. This morning I was going to sleep in (child away for the night) and woke up buzzing at 6.00am, no way I could sleep in!! Definitely a turn around for me! definitely do the fist size for carbs, sometimes it can look a lot for a meal, but your body does need it. And water, drink, drink drink!!
It's a good idea to look at the breakdown of protein/carb grams in your meals until you are happy with what you are having. I did that on the nutritiondata.com site, similar to calorie count.
I like the Horleys Protein 33 bars, really yummy and stop the craving for chocolate. They are made in NZ.
