I took the challenge 10 years ago, went from 230 to 200 and felt great. Time moves on and was back to 230. I lost the weight by eating right, went from 230 and 40 waist to 191 and 34/36 waist. NOW i want to build some mass and bulk a little and am not sure how because I LOVE to run. I do 5 miles a day. I would welcome any advice. I want to have a nice chest, and nice arms, my abs not an issue, and legs will come in with running. I am doing 6 meals a day, myoplex, creatine, protean powder and my meals are 1 carb 1 protean, 1 veg.
well if you like to run you should keep it up because exercise is exercise so if you find something you love you should stick with it, with regards nutrition if your trying to gain mass it might be harder with all that cardio so you may want to up the calories so what Bill has advised in the past for those trying to gain mass is to have and extra portion of carbs with the first 3 meals another program that you may want to check out is Scrawny to brawny by Dr John Berardi
The cardio good/bad for mass gain is a endless debate.
If you google this you will get thousands of hits. A common thread is short effictive cardio like the Body for Life HITT sysytem will aid mass gain and excessive long cardio will hinder gain and often a loss a lean muscle mass.
I guess what it comes down to is this what is considered short / long and most importantly what works for you. Track you results and try each way.
