Today i am starting my 5th week on BFL. I'm having trouble loosing weight, my beginning weight was 205 and after 5 weeks i weigh 203. It is a little frustrating, i can feel my body change and I'm going down in inches but i know i need to loose weight as well. I posted before and week 3 pics on my profile, any ideas on how to burn fat faster? I am thinking of CLA but my husband says to wait it out.
clas are always great additions to any diet...also cut out carbs after six unless fruit..the weight will melt off in a healthy time that way
Be patient with yourself first off. If you start desperately focusing on the scales you will be constantly disappointed. You have NOTICEABLE changes and you are making progress so focus on that and your body fat %. Remember, that you didn't put that weight on in 5 weeks, you won't take it off in 5 weeks either. Stay the course no matter how long it takes you to get there. Just do the right things and results will come.

thank you so much for the encouragement!
It is so true that its taken longer than 5 weeks to put on the weight, i never thought of it that way before!
You are very welcome. Sometimes it just helps to know you are not struggling by yourself. Keep your free day enjoyable, but withing some sense of boundries. You are doing just fine and you should be really proud of the progress you're making.
You're absolutely crazy CGregory!!! I just looked at your pictures and that is an amazing transformation in just 5 short weeks!! WOW! I hope that my pictures look that great 5 weeks from now. You'd better ignore that scale because you really look awesome. Don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat too ;) I can't believe that your first picture was 205 much less that your current picture is 203?!?! Are you 6'3 or something? LOL
You can choose the pain of discipline or the pain of regret...
I just took a look at your photos and I think you look great!
You can see the deffinition in your abs!
I finished the challange in 1999 and while I lost only 9 lbs. I went from a 14 to a size 10.
I am not planning on weighing myself till the 4th week.
Scales just make you crazy.
Keep up the good work!!
This is a silly question, nevertheless,
is snacking on watermelon ok?
Maybe a cup or 2?
Also bought multigrain Cheerios; that acceptable??
What is your snack of choice?
Florabel no watermelon is not a snack BUT you can use it as your carb portion of a meal as long as you eat it with your protein portion. In fact I think that snacking is not supposed to be part of the program. Try to think instead of eating six smallish meals with no snacks. Trust me you should not get hungry for snacks when eating the six BFL style meals. I don't know about the cheerios but I'd tend to say no to cereal in general.
Just looked up the carb content of watermelon. It only has 11.5gms of carbs per cup! Remember, most women need 20gms of protein and 20gms carbs in each of six meals. So have watermelon, but add 20gms of a protein source with it.
As for multigrain cheerios - there are 23 grams carbs/cup and 2 gms protein. One cup skim milk has 19 gms carbs and 14gms protein. If you have half a cup cheerios and a half cup of sk. milk you would be at 21gms carbs and 8 gms protein. You would have to add 12 or so gms protein to balance the meal out. If you cooked up some eggs, (6.3gms protein whole egg and 3.5 gms protein for an egg white) you could balance it out. I would eat the eggs first. Protein slows the absorption of sugar, so there is less of an insulin reaction (causing storage of sugar as fat in fat cells) when you eat the cheerios. Just MHO.
Since cheerios are not officially on the BFL approved food list, others may say "No way". If you are looking for long term weight loss, and are okay with a little slower results than 12 week challenge champion results, then I would say you could eat them...but even then, not every day! Make the decision that is right for you and your transformation goals. And make sure you are measuring every bit of cereal, and every drop of milk. Everything adds up in the end.
Some of my standby meals are greek yogurts with a TBSP low carb vanilla protein powder ( to get the protein content up to 20gms). I love CHOBANI and eat it every day, usually twice per day. I drink one to two RTD's per day. I keep it simple...mainly because I am LAZY!!
Thanks you guys!
For a "snack" in between my 6 meals if i get hungry i usually have 2 or 3 baby carrots and sometimes i have a peice of sugar free gum! i think it tricks the brain into thinking your eating a whole lot but in reality your not! I drink 1-2 glasses of water with my 6 meals as well, I've found that it helps me feel more full.
I read online and in fitness magazines that fat-free milk is better for you than skim milk? I also read that almond milk is waaay better for you.. only thing is its expensive.. :/ I only have milk on my free days with some kind of miltigrain cerial... what milk would you suggest?
thank you for all the encouragment!
I didn't know there was a difference between skim milk and fat free milk.
I think you have had great and very noticeable results in 5 weeks. CONGRATULATIONS!
I have read on the Hussman site that you can do extra low/moderate cardio after your HIIT cardio to help with weight/fat loss.
I'm pretty sure that skim milk IS fat free milk. I don't drink milk. I do use Almond Breeze brand almond milk to make my shakes. Only fat free milk is listed as an allowed food on the carb list.
oh yeah and regarding cereal the allowed cereals on the carb list are "oatmeal" (20g of carbs worth and whole oat is best) or "high fiber cereal". I dont think cheerios are high fiber. What is the nutritional information on the package? How many g of carbs and how many g of fiber per serving?
