Is anyone else feeling drained and fatigued? today I am supposed to do weights and cardio and I am just beat. This is W2 day3
I DO have fibromyalgia and this could be my body's way of saying " pace yourself". I have hard time with not eating something before I go t othe gym. I have been good. I haven't, but I can't workout until 8:45. I have 4 daughters and 1 is disabled so that's the earliest I can get there. then from what I read we should wait an hour after our workout to eat so that puts me getting my first meal around 11. Yesterday it was a Myoplex lite shake.
Do you think it's ok to miss a day and pick back up the next? or am I trying to do too much with treadmill everyday and weights every other?
I am eating carbs, but have to watch them carefully as they can get away from me, also I am wheat and Gluten intolerant so I eat a lot Vietnamese food as it has little wheat. lots of veggies, protein, the cuisine's most used sauce is a condiment called nuoc cham and it is virtually fat free, still I do not go overboard with it and when I make it I substitute Splenda for the small amount of sugar in it. I use it for salad dressing too wit ha touch of dark sesame oil in it...
I avoid soy sauce too.
My carbs are limited mostly to potatoes, rice pasta and lots of colorful veggies. Gluten free breads and the like are much higher in fat than traditonal breads so I have cut them out for now...
thanks for any input....
it is imperative to get the orinal Body for Life book. i don't know why you are doing cardio every day. no wonder you are exhausted. your body can only take so much, especially when we are hitting 10's. weights should be M-W-F as spelled out in the book and cardio should be T-TH-Sa as spelled out in the book. i would also check the authorized food list and email someone from Abbott about the gluten free. it has been my ewxperience that potatoes, pasta give me a small boost but then hit me like a ton of lead.- i hope this helps in some way. Get the Book
I DO have the original book. I prefer it. I did the challenge once before after my second daughter was about 7 months old.
I was reading in the BFL for women. It mentions to do cardio 5-6 days a week if not losing fat....I can see already in week 2 that my rear is toning up, my stomach is flatter, face little thinner.I guess I felt I HAD to do the aerobic stuff too. feel guilty doing just 20 minutes of the Treadmill I guess..
like I'm not doing enough...?
I guarantee I am not overindulging in potatoes or pasta. I am VERY careful to measure...they do not hit me "like Lead" trust me, I'm a Lead poisoning activist, child disabled by it...
Yesterday I did 24 minutes on the Treadmill building up the intensity, then 5 minutes of cool down.
Had a Myoplex lite shake for my first meal which was at 10. ( I waited an hour to eat like the original book says to) lunch was a huge bowl of salad greens, with a 1/4 cup of rice noodles, 1 serving of chix *** protein and some of the sauce I mentioned in my first post....about 2:30 I had a vanilla Myoplex carb control shake, dinner was lean top round cooked in a piperade sauce ( yellow and red bell peppers, onions, jalapenos, 1 diced tomato and 1/4 water....very low in fat. piece of meat I had was size of my palm and 2 thin slice of polenta sauteed in Pam cooking spray. Before I went to bed I had 1 more vanilla myoplex shake with a tiny piece of mango thrown in the blender and ice. I also take CLA and Glutamine 3 times daily...
I went to college for nutrition( Registered Dietitian) so I know how to watch portions and know my "trigger" foods...
please tell me if you see anything I should fix. I DO have big family and do need t ocook meals. I can't just live on skinless breasts, I can can cook with the foods allowed. I AM going to buy the eating for life cookbook. I won't get sucked into the old dieting mentality women do. I have to set a good example for my kids who thank GOODNESS are thin..
I've not heard good things about the BFL for Women book, and this is probably why. If I did cardio AND weights everyday I would be exhausted and I don't have any health problems or food restrictions. Lay off the extra cardio, you're overtraining and you'll set yourself back more than moving yourself forward!
Hi Alexandra, It does seem like you know your food.
The quantity of exercise might be an issue for the reason you have already given...you are exhausted. If you feel you must get more exercise in may I suggest instead of full HIIT cardio on weight days you just do low intensity work? Swift pace walking for example.
You are only in week 2 so your body is adjusting to the new demands you are putting on it. It will either adapt and go along cheerfully or it will keep sending you exhaustion signals. If you continue to feel exhaustion please scale back so you stick with the plan for the long term.
My best wishes for health, happiness and discipline to you.
I am on week 2 day 3 and cant keep my eyes open today! maybe its just a small glitch in our bodies adjusting to a new way of eating and exercising. UGGH!!! I had to go get a starbucks... regular coffee non fat milk with splenda :)
LOL! my standard there is a venti Green Ice tea with no sugar.
.I think part of my issue was missing that myoplex shake BEFORE I go to the Y since I am there at 9 I am up 3 hours before I can get to working out.
I feel better today...drank my shake @ 6 am...
Cardio every day? Yikes dude! No wonder! BFL For Women is a load of crap. Stick with the original.
I didn't do cardio yesterday, just weights..I followed the advice I was given.
Doing my cardio today...hope to...sick kiddo...going to follow the Tuesday, Thursday, Sat plan 20 mins.
I am down 6 lbs, but it could be water weight...my Wii Fit told me ;0)
Don't "hope to", just get it done! :-) I'm so glad you cut out the extra cardio, hopefully you'll notice your energy come back soon. Keep eating well, getting loads of water, and at least 8 hours of sleep. You may need some more sleep this weekend to "catch up" from your overtraining. Keep up the great work!!!
