Just wondering what everyone's take on fruit is. I am happy with my results thus far into my challenge (I am just starting week 8) but would like to refine things even more in the next 4 weeks. I am using fruit a lot as my carb source and have read conflicting things regarding how this may affect progress. I have been using 1/2 a banana with my protein shakes (up to a whole banana a day) and will typically have an apple at some point in the day and possibly another piece of fruit with my dinner protein. Wondering if cutting back on my fruit intake and substituting more complex carbs (whole grain pasta, brown rice, oatmeal) may make a difference. I eat all these things too intermittently but I love fruit. Thanks for any feedback : )
The only thing that can stop me. . . . . . . . . . is ME!!!! JEN
ermomof2, congrats on your progress so far.
My first thought is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." You say you enjoy the fruit and if that keeps you motivated with your nutrition then that's awesome. You also say that you are happy with your results. I am so happy for you to have this attitude.
I haven't really had many fruits at all during my 9 weeks so far. I am getting my fiber with veggies. I am really not craving the sweetness of fruit at all. Oatmeal and whole grain pasta are in at least 2 of my meals every day. I didn't think I would like the whole grain pasta in the beginning and I don't even think of it anymore...I just eat it and enjoy it.
Why not give a carb switch up a trial run for the next 2 weeks. See how it impacts your performance and hunger. You can always switch back afterward if you are missing the fruit.
