  • heh, I won't have AR for another 10 weeks as I am calling this my first challenge since the last was years ago.  As of now I think I will do pretty much what you described.  Moderate cardio while eating "mostly" clean.  I am planning on a 1 or 2 week Active Rest maximum.

  • James-I did and finished a challenge years ago as well so I called my recentely completed challenge my first. I started my second on Monday. I'm glad I took off two weeks because at the end of my first week I got sick so it gave me the extra week to recharge and refocus!

    Just trying to catch up with the List, I don't get it, it should be "easier", but it isn't... Oh well, Soldier On....

    MARIA AND JENNIFERNORCAL - CONGRATS ON FINISHING YOUR CHALLENGES

    Maria, it'interesting watching how different things cause issues with different people as they work through their challenges...  For me C2 was hard from a "motivation" standpoint. The food was pretty easy, finding the reason to keep pushing and working out intensely and "living this way," was hard for me.  I had to refocus and find "new goals" to keep me going and I had to lean on a few BFL friends quite heavily as well.  C3, well I was doing that whilst Doug was fighting cancer, so it was my only "outlet" to not go nuts, it was not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I found I needed to "commit" to just doing 12 weeks so I didn't completely lose it and go off the rails.  I'm finishing up 6 weeks of Active Rest, been doing my "mountain walks" - 5-6 days a week, so have kept active, eating between 3-5 times a day, but always in correct balance, been a little liberal on food and had the odd "drinks" - going well, but I can feel the "slippery slope" getting closer, so it's time to "act" once again... I've been procrastinating about doing the weights for some reason... but I know this is crucial to not losing the muscle mass I've gained - so that will be my focus after easter.

    "Champions - aka Elites" V "Winners " please be easy on yourself, you are on the right path, so your not a "champion", who cares! you must be happier that you were before C1 - right.... just don't give up (like you haven't) and you will always be a winner, we only lose if we quit! As you can see my my little story above, I'm still battling to some extent, but boy do I LOVE the body I'm in now and that gives me the impetus to keep on keeping on.....

    JULIEINVIRGINIA: Power on home mate - glad to see you still around, as I've written above, it's different for all of us and each challenge teaches us something else about ourselves that we'd "forgotton" or buried!

    JAMESK: Love your attitude mate - keep on keeping on! If you are up early on the PC, go to the "Coffee Crew" and say hello, or to the main "Faithful GB'rs" thread and say hi later on in the day...

    HANZELKA:  Week 1 to me means anywhere from Day 1 to Day 7 - I assume people start on a Monday, but a lot don't, so unless they are specific, thats where I put them.  Having the day in your post is helpful for me (C1, W6, D49) - reading your comments on AR - please be mindful if it's caused you issues before, the more "liberties 'we take, the easier it is to slide right of the end and not come back.  My experience (failures hehe) have told me, what ever I do, don't stop MOVING!  If you take liberty with the food AND STOP moving, you're heading for trouble...  All the best in your challenge mate.

    LAURIEINATL: Hey there beautiful! I thought you knew, thats why you stayed away! hehe! It's more life Spirit now isn't it..... I prefer the old GB, thats why I didn't go to Spirit in the first place, because I like the "one in all in" type..... but, it aint going backwards now is it mate? POWER ON DEAR LAURIE! God you must be near "poster gir" material after this challenge! You were after C1! Woooooooooooop!

  • Debs,  Thanks for all the support!  I am feeling great.  Looking forward.  So glad to hear all your good news lately, about Doug, and your new job!  Will you be starting a mini-challenge Monday?  I remember you might do a short one before the wedding?  Sounds like you are ready to get back to the weights!  I hear them calling your name....

  • Alrighty friends, Week 2 is done.  Scale says 10 pounds lost!  My legs are crying over LBWO 2 days ago and it feels sooooo good.  Today is free day but I'm gonna not go all crazy like I did last week.  I work out at the YWCA and they are closed this Sunday so I will have to shift my schedule a bit because I have LBWO for that day.  I know I could do something with dumbbells at home but I really like the routine of being at the gym.

     

    I think I am also going to add more cardio to the mix.  I have read that many of the champions did cardio in excess of that listed in the program and gosh darn it I like the after cardio feeling.  I won't do HIIT, but I will get my heart pumping a bit.  Best of health and discipline to you all.

  • Good morning everyone,

    Just checking in as I close out the end of Week 7 (Day 48). Progress is better than I expected for this point in my Challenge. One of my goals was to get back into my size 32 dress slacks and jeans (I was at a 36 waist) and "fitted" dress shirts. Well, I am already in most of the 32's (all the jeans) and now fit in those fitted dress shirts. Some collars don't button all the way to the top because I think my neck grew from some of the shoulder workouts. They say that this program really kicks into high gear at Week 8 and beyond. Woo hoo...this should be good.

    I had a good cardio workout this morning. Once again, I ran the whole 20 minute session to Rush's 2112. What an awesome song to run to. Right about 17 minutes into the song is when it starts "cranking". Coincidentaly, we push it into high gear towards the end of the workout as well so it's almost like the song was made for this program (although it came out in the 70's). At the very end, when I was at 8.5 mph on the treadmill, I heard Jenny yelling out to her friend, "Run, Forrest, RUN!!" I think that pushed me further as well.

    In closing, I vow once more to eat clean on Free Day tomorrow. As a confirmed food addict, I find that making this written commitment to this community has helped me. The only cheating I'll be doing tomorrow is riding my bike about 50 miles with my best friend as we gear up for cycling season. I know tomorrow is supposed to be a day of rest but my new carbon fiber bike calls me to the road.

  • Jeff-Sounds like you are right on track!! I still need to look into getting that Rush song, looked on iTunes and it said I had to buy the whole album to get that song...

    50 miles!  I wouldn't be able to walk the next day!! Have fun and have a great weekend yourself! :)

  • C2 is done, 5kgs (11 pounds) lost, waist and hips down 1 inch each but lost heaps elsewhere. Bad news for you fat - not many places to hide left...

  • Challenge 2 starts April 5th for me! A whole new set of goals! A whole new set of challenges! A whole new vision!

    I will reduce my body fat from 21% TO 16%

    I will run a 5k. I mean run the WHOLE thing. No walking. Whew! I just wrote that down. Accountable.

    I will assist with at least 2 more people accepting and completing the BFL challenge. So much gratification in watching someone else succeed in life.

    I will gain a solid understanding of the human body and how it is affected by supplements, foods choices, vitamins, exercises, etc.

    I will have my kids 100% on board with ALL healthy FOOD choices by the end of this 12 weeks. No more partial acceptance.

    CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO FINISHED UP WEEK 12!

    CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE BEGINNING THEIR FIRST OR SUBSEQUENT CHALLENGE THIS WEEK!

    I wish to thank everyone who has found value in, and appreciated my "List of Commitment" over the past 9 months or so. I began the list to try to help "newbies" feel acknowledged by seeing their name on the screen as it so quickly went past on the "old Guest Book" type forum and once 30 pages was reached - well, you were "history".  This new forum format makes it easier for everyone to be "seen", depending on where people decide to post, so my list is not as important as it used to be.

    So, after much consideration, I regret that I will not be continuing the monitoring and listing of people as they come and go throughout the 12 week cycle.  I have had the gift of "time" over the past 6 months whilst helping Doug recover from cancer and have been able to keep up with "The List" because of this.  I will be returning to working fulltime shortly and feel my time could be used more effectively by addressing individual posts where I can, as my computer time will be diminished considerably.

    All the best old challengers and new!
