Week of May 17th challenge starters post here

  • Hello All!!  I'm beginning tomorrow too!!  Can't wait!!  I'm post-baby #3 .. 202 lbs, 5'8" ... goal weight for this challenge is 170 .. I am still nursing my son, so I'm a little nervous about slow progress.  I did 12 weeks of BFL after baby #2 and got down to 168 .. can't WAIT to be back in my size 10s .. I'm currently in a size 16.  NOT GOOD!!

Anyways .. diet will be a bit different due to breastfeeding .. but the workouts will be the same!  I have a babysiter all set up to come every week day for the next 3 weeks .. fun way to kick start!!

Thanks SO much for starting this thread .. I can't wait to keep in touch and hear how everyone is doing!!

    Good luck everyone!  :)

    Becky

  • HI James, just starting the challenge tomorrow morning. Have healing foot and elbow issues so will have to modify exercises for a while but plan to amp up the cardio and stick with the eating plan. Need motivational help to stick with it through the entire 90 days this time. Looking forward to keeping up with everyone else on their journey too. I'm 5'4", 160 lbs, 49 years old. Plan to lose 20-30 lbs bodyfat and gain muscle. Thank you for being there for us.

  • Hi  there James!  Thanks so much for taking the initiative to start this chat thread up.  Over the last six months I have packed on a lot of weight due to some health issues, poor nutrition and a lack of physical exercise.  I have successfully done BFL in the past, and that is why I am here now.  I want to use what works.  Here are my stats:

    Age: 32

    Height:  6'3"

    Weight: 268lbs

    Fat % : 32%

    Gender: Male

Goal: Get to 185lbs; <12% body fat, and a pant size of 32 (these are long term; but this is the endgame nonetheless).  I would like to hit 220 in this first round.

As you can see, I have a long way to go, but I am very excited about this competition.  I think this is exactly what I need to start moving forward.  I am excited to get to know others here, and I am looking forward to the next 12 weeks.  Good luck to you all, and God bless you on your transformation.

    Marcus

  • Hey James & Everyone Else!

First of all, I'm not used to forums or blogs, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right...

Age: Over 50, but under 60

    Height:  5'3"

Weight: 192lbs (ugh! can't believe I'm actually posting this)

    Fat % : ? TBA

    Gender: Female

Goal: Lose 30 lbs (the first go round); get back into an exercise routine; establish a habit of healthy eating; gain strength and ENERGY; but most of all improve the quality of my life!

Well, the big day has come and in a couple of hours or so, I will begin the challenge. I planned the start date so that I would finish a week or so before my birthday. Good luck to all & thanks for the support!

    Cindy ;p

  • Good morning May 17th crew!  I am UP and at it!  Did my UBWO (upper body workout) and had my first meal!  How's everyone else today?  Let's have a GREAT beginning day!

    Dagney

  • Good Morning Challengers!   Today is an exciting day.  Day 1.

Today is Upper Body Workout Day. Chest, Shoulders, Back, Triceps, Biceps.

There are so many good exercises to choose from.  My starting routine for UBWO was

    Bench Press

    Flyes

    Military Press with Dumb bells

    Lateral Raises

    Cable Pull downs

    Standing Dumb bell Rows

    Cable Pushdowns

    Dumb bell Triceps extensions

    Preacher Curls

    Standing Dumb bell curls

Whatever you decide to do, give it your all and be ready for some soreness for the next couple of days.  Soreness can sometimes be lessened by drinking your protein drink (or having a meal if you aren't using a protein drink) right after your weight training.  Don't worry if you think you aren't lifting heavy-enough weights.  You can add them next time if it was too easy this time.  This first couple of weeks can be used to gauge and fine tune your intensity levels.

You can find great ideas for your exercises at www.exrx.net/.../Directory.html

Your body is really going to need the nourishment as you continue to exercise through the weeks.  Please do not cheat yourself out of any meals.  Get all six meals in to keep those muscles happy.

  • Good morning all!

My name is Dustin, I'm 33 years olds and glad I'm taking up this challenge.

    Height:  5' - 10"

Wieght:  294 lbs  (That is already down from the 315 I was just a month ago. Yes, I just learned of this

                                     challenge last week.)

    Fat %:  TBA

Goal: to lose 45 lbs in the next 12 weeks, improve my quality of life, and to eventually get down to 190 - 180 lbs.

    There it is!

My workout was great this morning!  I'm ready rumble through this day and the next 12 weeks.

  • Whats up James,

Chavvy here, I am starting my BFL challenge on May 17th, 2010. This date is a good one, the first day of a new healthy lifestyle. I am very optimistic about this program and I am happy that I have something to go by. I am 5'11", 280, and my BMI is 39. I know that I am at a very unhealthy weight and I don't enjoy it. I have been in excellent shape before but I let that go and over the course of a year I gained 90lbs. Funny thing is I love to work out, I have been motivated now and I have no intention of quitting.

    Have an awesome day,

    Chavvy

  • Hey everybody!!  I'm glad that everyone is as excited as I am to start this journey.  I've had my breakfast, now I'm getting ready to hit the gym.

    Current Height - 5'8"

    Current Weight - 220 lbs.

    BMI - 34

    Gender - Female

Age - 39 will be 40 in Oct.

Goal - My main goal is to feel better with my body.  I also want to be able to run a 5K within 25 min.  I want to look good in a bikini.  I have a pair of my "skinny" jeans that are a mens 34"  I want to fit back into those loosely.  If I can lose 40 lbs, to get into these jeans, however, if I can lose 30 within the 12 weeks, I will be satisfied for the first go around.

I can't wait to hear about everybody's first day!!  Good luck to everyone!!

  • Alight TEAM!  My first workout is HISTORY!!!!

    WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!

I am doing cardio on MWF and weights on TThSa ...  we have a treadmill at home, so my kids watched me BUST OUT 20 min of INTENSE cardio ... my "10" was a mere 6.5 .. which used to be my 6 ... but HEY!  it's a start!!  yay for me!

how 'bout the rest of you?  I need to learn names ... :)

I'm looking forward to working out in the gym tomorrow!

The buddy I did my first BFL with is still trying to get her sleep "post baby" ... so I'm going solo for now .. it's nice to have this forum to check in with!

oh .. and I took my blubbery picture ... It was much more eye opening to see a picture of myself instead of just the mirror.. can't WAIT to get this weight off!!

GO HARD!  DAY 1!!  WOO HOO!!

    BECKY

  • HELP, my morning has been horrible to put it mildly and I want a donut!  Where are you James to talk me down?

  • OKAY LANDHIPPO ... (lol .. your name is hysterical!!)

give the donut craving 20 min before you REALLY decide if you're wanting one ... it'll empower you SOOO much if you choose something else.  AND .. this is what I do ... when I'm having a super craving like that .. I write it down, and eat the hell out of it on Sunday!  FREE DAY!!!

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!

    p.s.  you're NOT a hippo!!!

  • I agree with Becky.  Drink a glass of water and ride it out.  Don't forget the Extra gum only has 5 cal per piece.  You can work through this and it will get easier each time.

  • I'm in. Great workout this morning. Breakfast was good (first time I've ever eaten Cottage Cheese, mixed it with yogurt).

    My stats,

    5'10"

    216lbs

    Male

Goal - You know the Red Uniform you always see on Canadian RCMP members (Mounties)? I'd really like to fit back into mine (three years ago at Grad I was a fit 195lb).

Pretty pumped to get this started.

  • Thanks James!~  I drank 8 ounces of water, ate my egg beaters and canadian bacon and focused on my ultimate goal.  Landhippo is our nickname for our english bulldog named Sluggo.  I posted about my name in a prior post but I'll give you the short version.  Sluggo is my true therapy dog as he is the one that pulled me out of a deep depression.  I really need to post his picture as my avatar but I'm not that bright with the computer so I will have my 17 year old son help me with that tonight.  Anyways I always use something that pertains to Sluggo as far as user names on blogs.  Thanks for talking out of that fattening donut:)
