Hey Coffee Crew! Having my cuppa while I wait for my eggs. I did a HIIT run this morning outside, the weather was perfect and it felt great. After a week of resting my shoulder I am feeling like I can at least ease into some cardio again. I am going to do the Bar Method DVD's for my resistance days, which may sound wimpy to all you cross-fit crazies  but it is about all my shoulder can handle, and my legs tremble like nothing else, and I do get a nice sweat. it's what I can do, and it's better than nothin, right!
Have a great week!
It's all about progress, not perfection.
Hey strongmates!
Just reporting in. Today was day 3 at the Gym. Holy hell. I have lost strength big time and will be building up on that again over the next several weeks. Even lunges were bloody hard LOL. It does my mind good though, to be up early and be working out. I'm very much a morning person.
We had company all weekend, and it was tough eating properly. I keep reminding myself that the toughest part of getting results, is getting into that mometum - for me it is about 3 days of eating clean, and then I'm fine. SoooOOoo by Wednesday I should be kickin butt big time again. :)
Happy Monday freaks!
Legs, I have to make the same goal - usually Monday and Tuesday are good but Wednesday our schedule is different and it totally throws me off. I'm determined to beat it this week! Let's join forces!! ;-)
I'm almost through liter #2 of water, hoping to get 4 in today. Also just scored an awesome deal on a heart rate monitor on eBay - yay, can't wait to add that to my HIIT training.
So - Wednesday is pinch day for you is it?! You're on. THIS Wednesday you are going to plan and sail through it victorious. Know why? Cause you have recognized it as a trouble day, and this week you said it out loud, and now you are going to fix it and make it like it was Monday. Lucky you! A week with 2 Mondays in it!!! :D
United.
3 cheers for a steller week.
Hey there team!!!
Well, it was a tough, tough weekend for me, but I'm writing to let you all know I came out on top.
Still no wine to date, ate clean, and yesterday--my free day--I had nachos for the first time in ... FOREVER, and it was so funny--I felt like Lady Macbeth afterwards. I could not for the life of me scrub my hands clean [of the cheese oils!] "Out! Out damn spot!!!"
I've been without that kind of stuff in my diet for months now. But thought--hey! Week One of the challenge, I'm going to make something I wouldn't normally have to close out my free day!
I STILL feel slimy. (Don't get me wrong--it tasted GREAT! But just made me squeamish afterwards.) Isn't it funny how out bodies come to expect what we feed it and then get blown out of the water by something new?
In fact, I used to balk at you hoolies when you'd say "I don't do a free-day in my challenges anymore. Just a free meal." I thought, "Are you NUTS??? Why NOT???" Well, I may be entering another level of your freakdom ladder.!
My cardio Saturday was not great. I still couldn't walk from my LBWO two days prior.
In fact, I told Donald this, but truth be told--when I reallllllllllllllllyyyyyy wanted my glass(es) of wine the most was on Friday night.
The ONLY thing that stopped me was knowing there was NO WAY IN HECK I could make good on the 40 burpees I promised for every glass of wine I consume this challenge! So instead of fighting the craving all night, I just went to bed at 9:00 p.m.
:)
Been super duper tired lately. But I remember that side effect from my other challenges. Week 1 nails my butt to the ground. Just can't get enough sleep to counteract the shock to the muscles.
I hope all is well with everyone else!
Work it!!!
Larry
Sabotage is not part of the plan.
Oh, and Lins--The DVDs DON'T sound wimpy--they're forward moment and PROGRESS! There's nothing wimpy about that. You go get 'em and get all shakey! :) Way to work through that injury. I'm proud of you.
Bryan---I would love to not be hungry/angry every 3 hours if I can't get a chance to eat. Someday--I may try it. I'm not ready in my mental thinking to try it or eat that much meat or give up my carbs right now.
Darcy--that looks like scary (fun) stuff you want in your yard!!
JLM--I've put a little Myoplex or AdvantEdge ready-to-drink in my coffee--tastse just like creamer! and then you can drink the rest of the bottle as part of a meal. Otherwise, I've just switched to black over time. Now I don't miss cream or sugar at all.
I look forward to hear how all this planking business is going!! I HATE planks!!!
Who asked about runnign outdoors for HIIT? I do it in summer and I think I push myself more outside than on the treadmill. On the TM, I'm afraid of flying off. but outside I can sprint my heart and only briefly worry that I'll trip. My '6' is walking fast, '7' is light jog, '8' is jogging comfortably, and '9' is jogging fast. '10' is all out sprint. I don't time it out, just use landmarks in front of me and say 'when I get to that black mailbox, I will move to the next intensity level".
thank you Laura and Donald for giving your ideas for my handstands.
Laura--LARRY HAHAHAHA--Great job on the wine so far!!!! Do you miss CF? I have this 'guilt' feeling if I reduce or completely cut out boot camps, like I don't want the trainers to think they were bad and that's why I stopped going. Plus I'm still paying for it, so I feel obligated to go. Which is silly I know. I want to go back to strict BFL weight workouts, but the boot camps have helped me for social reasons and staying in the loop for race groups to sign up with. So I think I will look for only ONE boot camp per week, 1 UBWO and 1 LBWO per week, then cardios and maybe a CF-type circuit that I get emails for on the weekends. and 1 pilates/yogo per week. Oh crap, a week is only 7 days, maybe I can't fit all that in. Well I still have some more writing and planning to do for that. I really miss working out in the morning. Most of the boot camps are at 6 pm and kinda interferes with my evenings.
I don't want anyone to assist me to get my legs all the way up because then I wouldn't be doing it myself. I'm not savvy with taking a video and posting it. I tried taking a video of my daughter's cheer routine once and I spent forever trying to get in on the computer. but from there I was never able to post it to any social media. However, I do have a different camera I could try.... I'll see. I also try to remember to get my hands as close to the wall as possible. Haha, one time I almost smacked my head though, I was getting tired and every time I kicked up, my whole body was getting more sideways and my head was going FORWARD towards the wall. I quickly learned I better correct that!
And one of you mentioned to pretend I'm doing a somersault, or put my head in a position like for a somersault, stop looking at the floor. Hmmmm, I get vertigo, so I have to be careful about what angles I tilt my head. something to do with crystals in my inner ear shifting and that's what makes me sick. I think more somersault practice is in my future. I've done a few, and I do them so quick so that the centrifugal force keeps those crystals in place.
So far in my headstand/wall climbs, I'm always looking at the floor and my head is never pointing down at 270 degrees. However I'm experimenting with it, to see how my vertigo goes, and I'm trying to glance in the distance instead of the ground.
the other night, I went to hour-long bootcamp and then practiced handstands again. bleh, same results as always. then I attended a Zumba already in progress, then after that, went to practice again. I did much better this time, still didn't make it up though.
So I'm tryign to figure out how I'm going to get my best practicing in. After an intense boot camp/BFL WO, I'm exhausted and can barely kick up. but on the opposite spectrum, if I go to practice while I'm not warmed up whatsoever, I still can't barely kick up. the best times are after I've done a whole class of 'easy' aerobics. but 'easy aerobics don't fit into the intense workout schedule I would like to have. Trying to figure out how I can still have energy for handstand practice, but not waste my time on things like zumba. I might just have to do maybe 15 minutes of easy warmup stuff, like level 5-6 intensity. then practice handstand kicking up. THEN proceed to a BFL or boot camp intense workout.
Donald--I think you will doing 200 burpees in your future!! I KNOW you can 10 at a time, so if you look at it that way, it's not so bad!
I'm ina funk right now, my current challenge is ending at the same time my 2nd job ends. And I can't wait!!!!! I feel so behind in everything. I've barely been planning workouts, eating, anythign really! In 2 weeks, it will be over. I was looking in the mirror, and one year ago, I wasn't this jiggly. I'm mad that I couldn't juggle things to make it all work with the 2nd job.
This weekend we went to a wrestling show in chicago and I found a new hero/inspiration for my bulletin board. I will try to find a pic of her. Her wrestling name is Sara Del Rey and she's always been a little on the stockier side, but still gorgeous and strong. Years ago we watched her wrestle and she struggled to do a kip-up. She was embarrassed. We saw her wrestle this weekend and she's come so far, but still kept her same build, but is stil so sexy IMO. You guys remember Diana Carter as Wonder Woman from the 70's/80's? she had hips! but still looked great. Sara Del Rey has big quads and a butt, but I think she looks so much better than a bikini model. Maria Canales (used to be in the WWE) was also at the show and she's a super sexy magazine-type model. I was looking at the 2 of them, and SO wanted to be Sara Del Rey.
teh wrestling took place near a park where they had FOUR sets of different style monkey bars! I managed to 5 before my hands gave out.
Howdy folks,
Laura, NO VINO!!!!! WOOHOO, make me Burpee :-)
opti, try do a flip on rings 1st, that got me to get used to getting upsidedown, was very disorientating first few times but was then real easy, and that helped for getting upside down for handstand.
i'll talk you through how to do it on the rings on FB if you like, do you have rings at the gym? it's actually REALLY easy.
sorry gotta run.
guess what i'm doing today. going to the doc for a full on check up.... including prostate exam... so in about 90 min i will be standing with my pants around my ankles hoping that they have lots of lube and small fingers...
i swear if they say relax i'm gonna punch their lights out.
i am so NOT looking forward to this.
but i promised Jenny i would do it when i turned 40, well i'm almost 44 and still havn't done it.
then i made a deal with another special lady, and my part was to do this, so, pants on the ground, cold hand and cough, then turn arond..... blah, well the day WILL get better after that.
IT JUST HAS TO!!!!
Hello All!
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm pretty sure I got a little food poisoning the other day, so I haven't been doing so good. Feel better today and ready to finish the week strong!!
Donald-You Doc visit doesn't sould so fun lol. I can't wait til Friday too, to celebrate with you :-) Should I actually do it on Thursday since our Thursday is your Friday???
Anyways...Donald this is to prep you for your Doc visit.....
Stay Strong!
Darcy
donald--good luck on the whole physical exam . Wish I could get my husband to do that, or just plain get a basic physical, period! He will wait until he's 1/2 dying. He'll be 43 this summer.
I cringed reading about your EASY ring flip! I'm not sure if I'm picturing what you're describing. I can hoist onto a horizontal bar that's approximately waist or chest high, then lean forward, and spin 1 round with it positioned under my belly. We do have rings about waist high. I tried kinda jumping up to those, keeping my arms rigid, but since they're unstable I barely held it for 1/2 second. I can't imagine doing a forward flip like that. However, I COULD do a backwards 1/2 flip holding rings since that uses different muscles, don't know if I would make it all the way around.
As far as being upside down, i'm totally comfortable in my wall climbs now with no fear of falling on my face. Well except walking back down, that gets scary. My hands like the climb up, but not down.
I went to 5:30 am boot camp this morning. Felt great getting this over with right away. Then after, I did my usual wall climbs, etc. I did 3 somersaults, a teeny bit better than last time. Tucking my head in more. i want to work my way up to tucking my head in completely, and doing the somersault landing on my upper back instead of the head.
Hahah, I'm even trying all these different view points while being upside down. Fixating on the floor is my 'safe zone.' So I tried glancing in the distance, tried with my eyes closed, and tried with my glasses off so I couldn't focus on the things in the distance to mess with the images my brain would be trying to correct.
I'm climbing out of my funk. Talked with my step-daughter yesterday to see how she's doing and we asked her how her other parents are doing. She said her mom's health is deteriorating as usual and rolled her eyes. They don't take care of themselves and starting to get all these health issues that could be avoided. it reminded me that I HAVE to continue to be the healthy role model for her. To show her that life doesn't have to be like the house she grew up with with them.
Legs - THANK YOU. Hold my feet to the fire, I need that!!!! You're on! I WILL make it through my Wednesday, allllll the way to Saturday this week!
Laura-Larry-whoever - ;-) Thanks again. The DVD's are really pretty great and since I can do them without aggravating my injury, it's at least something. My legs are SORE now from my WO this morning. :) Love it!!
Donald, there are no words. Sometimes it's good to be a woman. Hope the visit went as well as can be expected!
Yesterday was great. Ate clean. Did a HIIT run. Drank almost 5 liters of water. Didn't get to bed early enough though, gotta work on that!
Good MooOooorning Crew!
Donald.... lol...TMI. :) You nut.
Opti - keep focused woman! Those last 2 weeks can really make a difference after doing 10 weeks of BFL.
Larry - that cracks me up each time I read your name. :) Love it.
Lins - ONE MORE SLEEP! till we get through Wednesday TOGETHER! I cant wait!
I promised MYself, no weigh scale for this month, and eating clean every day, no cheats. I hope to stick it out too. I am supposed to get a vein removed on the 28th (that will depend if they let me fly a week later...if not, I'll have to cancel AGAIN!) but anyways, I am wanting to keep my game face on until then for sure.
Rock your Tuesday friends!
Donald - Huzzah to you! It's not as bad as you think. This is so necessary. You will be glad...think of it as an act of love for those who love you. Pevention and all that. So very worth it. It takes a real man to shedule the exam - and go through with it. Congrats. I'm sure all will be well.
Dee
Feeling very flat today. Worked out Friday. Walked outside - the next thing I remember is being in the ER at the hospital.
Can't work out till I see Doc tomorrow. I haven't missed a workout since I started March 5th. No memory of 9:30 am till around noon on Friday. Missed all the excitement. Apparently they called paramedics because I seemed disoriented. They admitted me and raan a battery of tests. Good news - they did a stress test - and I wasn't even breathing hard when I reached my target heart rate. Hahaha..
On the other hand - TGA Trans Global Amnesia- happens under extreme stress ( uh huh) or extreme physical exertion. I pushed myself a little harder on my UPBWO but not significantly. So it could be a combination. Anyway - they discharged me Saturday evening. I feel a little weird, but I'm OK - I just can't workout till after I see Doc. I just don't want to lose momentum. I'm down18 pounds of fat...11 inches off my waist. But this is mhy 9th week. I really want to finish well.
Cheers to all y'all. Keep on doing it! I eve missed the hunkey EMTs during the ambulace ride!
Howdy Folks,
Darcy, LMAO that was EXACTLY what i was thinking when i said pants on the ground BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
do the workout on your friday, that way when you doing that i'm doing the mud run :-)
Opti, the ring flip is dead easy, actually a very very basic move, so its NOTHING like what you think, you not trying to hol dyour weight up or anything like that, i'll try type up an explination later. 1st time i did it i did a half arsed kick 'cos i was scared and nervous and didn't wantt o land on my head or look like a real plonker, and next thing i knew i had flipped right over, looked like a stunned mullet i was So surprised, so i did it again :-)
Lins, when i think of mamograms, Periods, papsmears etc i'm glad i can pee standing up:-) i think ladies have a MUCH tougher ride than men, MUCH!!!! there again its like that cos god knows you can take it, us men are real wossies when it comes to these sorts of things...:-)
Ok folks so i went to the doc, as i went in to her office and sat down my butt clenched up tighter than a frogs, yep i mean water tight!!!!! so anyway it was quite funny i tell her why i'm there so she starts asking me all these questions about how i feel blah blah blah, in the end i said, look i feel fantastic, top of the world, i'm here for a CHECK UP, not a fix up. then i said, the one thing i want checked is the prostate, felt my lower extremities tighten up even more. now by this stage i could see that she had placed me "in a box" fat overweight lazy bad BMI drinker smoker. hey i get that thats kinda what i look like, so she starts with her check up questions... do you smoke? nope then do you drink in moderation? nope, dont drink at all. she did a double take and asked like never? i'm yeah like never, then she is like never ever??? yeah woman, not at all, ever!!!!
then she is ok well do you do any exersise? i say yeah, she says how often i say every mon, tues, wed, fri, sat... so she asks for how long, i say well each class runs an hour. so she says, well thats quite a lot, what sort of intencity level, so i smile and say, RIGHT OFF THE CHART!!!! hahahaha so she looks at me with a smile, like yes you poor dear i'm sure it is, and says can you explain what you mena by that? so i say yep. this is what we did yesterday...
10 pull ups, 20 push ups, 30 sit ups, 40 squats... rest 3 min repeat! she is like huh, you did that AGAIN??? so i say yeah, 5 times.... :-) but you really have to push hard cos there is a 40 min time cap. HAHAHAHA she was you did all that? 5 times? everything, yep... so youd did hold 40, 80, 120, 160 you did 200 squats???? yep:-) like i said the intencity is right up there
then she took blood pressure, apparently really good, pulse rate is low. Chest sounds good, nice strong pulse in the neck.
Lungs sound good...then she made my day, the prostate check is done with blood tests :-) :-) :-)
and even better these are the same tests i did about 6 months ago for my insurance, oh yeah, i am also 8kg less than i was when they did my insurance medical.
was so cool to see her have to mentally move me out of "that box" and stick me into a different one.
i wanted to say to her, " you know the only thing you can tell by judging an overweight person is your own prejudice to overweight people!!!!"
so anyways, its done, i will go do the bloods today but i aint stressed about them at all...
Legs i wanted to come in here and REALLY give you TMI, start off describing how she pulled the glove on, and lubed right up to her wrist LMAO.... now i got no war story to tell. but thats ok i'll take that.
and i'm with you on the RNG, i aint looking at the thing for at least a month, all it does is pee me off so stuff that.
Laura, i saw your comment on FB, read this slowley cos i'm typing it REAL deliberate.... i am NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT going to do any burpee challenge, nothing zip zulch nada bugger all!!!!! i will be the happiest dude on the planet throwing down 200 on your day 84, seriously nothing would make me happier than doing THOSE burpees, but 30 for 30 days????? HAHAHAHAHAHA NO!!!! the last burpee challenge almost killed me and i still very clearly remember thinking WTF have i done agreeing to this... i get plenty of burpees at CF, and i have even asked to do 50 on my birthday ( asked for the toughest workout i have ever done the filthy 50) 10 exersises 50 reps of each 40 min time cap, one of them is burpees, along with bo xjumps, jumping pull ups, push press, kettlebell swings, walking lunges, wall balls, double unders GHD sit ups, knee to elbows.... a real toughie:-)
Darcy is going to do it with me, well in her gym, anyone else keen????
OMG, Dee, you post just poped up on my e-mail, hospital? no recollection? man that would scare me shltless....hell i know you want to finish the challenge strong, but you also need to make sure you finish it first.... make sure the doc,s check you out big time, last thing you want is to overdo it and end up being bed ridded and lose all the momentum you have...
anyways.... gotta run, work is just CRAZY!!!!
meeting with a business mentor tonight, hopefully get some guidence on how to get out the hole we in...
cheers folks
have an awesome day!!!
