Way to go Opti!!
Donald :-( I hope you feel better buddy! It sucks when you don't feel well, and look at you pushing through and going to CF! I HAVE to get this gym done soon....I had a dream last night about my gymnastic rings and doing pullups LOL
Have a great day all! My workout will be when I get home from work, last nights was a killer :-)
Stay Strong!
Darcy
Morning Coffee crew.
Week 2 down, HIIT done, Got on the RNG this morning down 1 more lb, I know i know, its going to get harder and harder to loss that 1 lb as I get closer and closer to my goal, but for now thats making very excited that I'm getting a 1lb loss once a week.
Darcy~ Thats funny , I have dreams like that to, but its like I'm working out and I look at myself after and I'm all strong and skinny again then I wake up and am not there yet, LOL
Optigirl~ You are amazing skying then 10min HIIT at the gym.... Didn't get enough HIIT iceskating skying, Hahaha , That great girl . Keep up the great work... =)
Donald~ Wow that is crazy, having the flu and going to CF, I would be sick throwing up after doing burpees with the flu, I commend you man thats amazing, and you feeing like crappy and all , You did so well and only five burpees away from MO, thats awesome. =)
hahaha!! darcy--dreaming about trying out your new rings!! I know what you mean!!! I had dreamt about boot camp last night and in the dream they said they were going to start personal trainer sessions for free to make up for the classes they had to cancel due to attendance. Weird!
Have a great day everyone! today's not my free day and I'm going to be out of town all day, but I've packed 3 big bags of veggies, 2 sandwiches, and lots of myoplex!
survived the day being out of town! packed way more food than I needed, but then I could use it up today, so LESS packing needed today! yay, for efficiency. We even stopped at McD's 'cuz we had to eat quick. My husband didn't say anything negative that I was eating my turkey sandwich and carrots! We ate in the car. Maybe it would have been a different story if we ate in the restaurant... I could see him being embarrassed sitting there in a booth eating food NOT from the restaurant I'm sitting in.
I'm kinda getting some weird looks though from people i KNEW. like I had to finish my turkey sandwich at the arena where they serve hotdogs, nachos, etc. It's as if these looks are meant to say. "Why are you eating THAT?" ugh people!! Ok, technically you're not supposed to bring outside food in, but who's gonna check my purse and walk around all the seats to make sure people are only eating hot dogs and nachos??? It was a discreet turkey sandwich in a baggie. I do this at movie theatres, sporting events, pretty much any time I'm at an arena of some kind.
told my program director at school today that I dropped that certification class and she panicked. She said, "Well can't you just make up stuff for your essays and just write it down? What if I write some of your papers for you? What's really involved in this group project you'd have to do"....... I was not comfortable with that at all.
It's like people just don't understand! I NEED to eat well and keep myself healthy. If I'm going to take a class, I can't just make up info and wing it. I either work hard and DO the work myself, or don't do it at all.
This experience is making me more sympathetic to those who are struggling to start or complete a task that is hard for THEM. Next time I hear someone say what I think is an excuse, I will think twice b4 spitting out something like , "Well, that's easy. Can't you just do blah blah and drop blah blah?" What may be doable for me, might be almost impossible for someone else.
Well I don't know if that makes sense. BTW, I SUCK at essays at pretty much spend an hour just writing 2 paragraphs 'cuz I can't decide how to word things to make them make sense. this is why I teach a HANDS ON approach! hehe
had an awesome burger for my late lunch (without cheese) with the pasture-raised kind of beef on a wheat roll. It was so good but I knew I shouldn't finish it 'cuz I was spacing my meal too close to Ironman boot camp. It was either eat a little something, or don't eat at all. i felt guilty putting that last 1/3 of the burger down, but so glad I did. It was just enough and then I didn't feel sick workin out.
boot camp was great! There was a newcomer who didn't realize this was 'ironman' so she did less weight and less reps just so she could keep up with the rest of class--which meant I still came in last!!! During Split Jumps (I think that's what they're called, like lunges, but you jump when making the switch from right to left) I was intent on doing them correctly since it was to be my LBWO day anyway. The instructor came over to me (he could see I was behind in rounds compared to everyone else) and he said I could just do them faster with shorter range of motion and not lunge so much. I said I'd feel like I'd be cheating then. I feel so feisty lately!! I seem to be on this kick of "don't you DARE give me permission to cheat or I just might punch the next person who does". Seems to be coming from all directions! The trainer telling me to cheat on my form (think he wanted me to make it cardio-like), my director wanting to cheat so I pass that class, and my husband said I should take 2 free days next week 'cuz of our anniversary.
whew, sorry I seem to be speaking a lot lately. need to push this thread UP!
Yesterday at my daughter's cheer competition there was this company selling all this zebra-print stuff. So I bought a zebra cami top and wore it to the gym. I never see anybody wear zebra or leopard or even polka dots! wth? I wanna have FUN while I work out!! I never wear black or white tops (unless they have a cool saying on them) I need color!
Ooh speaking of polka dots and prints, I went to Walmart tonight and the swimsuits and bikinis are being displayed already :D !! First time EVER I'm excited to see those. Every other year, it's just been a sad reminder (oh yeh, I should start that BFL thing again soon... hmm....nah, summer's too close, maybe next year)
Morning Coffee crew,
On week 3 day 2, Cardio done this morning! On my way to a great day!!
I'm looking forward to a Slim new me, by the summer this year, going to get there.
OptiGirl~ Yeah speaking about swimsuits and bikinis being displayed already ,Walmart does have lots of them, I haven't been in there for awhile now but I will have to go and see what they have in there...
Hey you keep on track and you will feel better for it, if I had a anniversary coming up, which I do have one coming up in April, I'm going to have my free day on that day, and I also have a Birthday coming up in March. I will also have my free day on my birthday.
Hey that's a really good name for me now, because I'm working really hard to get my Slim new me!!!!.
anne--I mean, Sparked--I mean, Slim: If it weren't for your tags at the bottom, i wouldn't know who was who! Mayb in a few months, you'll be "Bikini-Ready"? Or "Sexy Scotia"?
LOl ~ yeah I'm not sure what the hell to call me, just guessing out there... LOL
Just thought I would pop on here and see whatever one is up to. Haven't been on here in sometime that is for sure. Still doing crossfit like workouts and loving it. Still battling it with my sister of who is better - me of course - lol
Glad, to see everyone still work at it hard!! Keep up the great work!!!

howdy folks,
been MIA a lot lately.
yesterday i woke up early got dressed for CF went to teh loo and man, something happened cos i walked out sweating like crazy, i had the shakes just was NOT in a good place. so i never went to workout, then the voices started in my head, it been a week since i did a workout, all i have done in that time was 7 min of pathetic burpees, last workout was wednesday its now tuesday, a week of nothing, but you still feel ok, no need for gym, man i shut that voice up quick smart, i knwo a slippery slope when i see one.
so i woke up this morning, let me just say that there was absolutley NO part of me that wanted to go workout, head all stuffy, it was a real struggle to get going, but i knew if i gave in today then i was well and truley on the dark side.
walked intoi the gym, trainer looked at me, as soon as i said hello he was like dude, you look and sound like crap, i was yep, but i need to get in a workout, its been a week. he understands the demons i think, the whole workout he was telling me to go lighter, take it easy, dont push too much etc, it wasn't a steller workout, not even close but it was a workout that i needed to do for me.
i actually feel much better now that i did it, tomorrow the 2nd workout for the Cf open is released, its a off day for me, will give me a little more recovery time and then i can go back on friday. do teh workout on saturady for the open :-) just need to move, and keep moving.
Opti i just LOVE your feisty attitude, rather do teh workout with propper form and come last instead of cheat and be in the middle of the pack. ann all the new names, you got me so confused... if i start talking to you like a newbie, just remind me who you are :-)
Taylor T man it has been FOEEVER since you posted, thought you forgot how, HAHAHAHA
Darcy, so glad to hear that Danno is ok, that theresults were good and that the gym is finally getting there, you said you want to do a muscle up and a handstand push up... man that like the 2 hardest moves in CF, they on my wish list for 2014... you know how to set real goals HAHAHA
ok, gotta get back to work, will chat again later, thanks for all the posts, especially you Opti, some days it seems liek you the only one posting, but i do read every word you lay down.. where is everyone else, lots of lurkers nobody chatting...
cheers
taylor! did u hav ur mud run yet?
Happy Humpday all,
Aww Donald are you trying to say you miss me????
Darcy - Headstand push up is on my goal list as well. I will get one of those done, even if I have to fall on my head to make it happend - lol
Optigirl - Mud run is August 11, 2012. Where I go to take classes called Strength Warriors they are the one along with our local Armory is the ones sponsoring it and they just got flyers made and all, so no just trying to get the word out. Can't wait but I really need to get this butt on the treadmill or I don't know if I will make the 5K run part - lol I have already seen one of the obstacles like a net you have to climb up and over the top, starting to freak me out a bit!!! I am excited though just to say I gave it a try. Thanks for asking.
Where is Legs at? I know she has some mean goals she is after and as usual working her butt off to get there. I still say that girl is the energizer bunny!!!
Anne - I saw on FB you are doing another 12wks that is awesome. Keep at it girl!!
Ok, off to work I go - Everyone have an awesome day - Make it count people!!!
Happy Wednesday!
I have not posted since last Monday. Last Tuesday I realized the knee soreness from my long run was actually an injury and I had to cut my 5 mile run on the treadmill short. The next day I was not even able to go 0.25mi due to the pain. I had the Cowtown Half coming up so I decided to take a break from running for a few days. Thursday I swam 12 25yard laps in the pool. I bought a foam roller (torture device) and started rolling out my right thigh because I think the knee pain is from my IT band.
Sunday I went to run the Half Race after a 4 day break from running. I was determined to finish even if it meant walking. Mainly because it cost so much to sign up and finisher get a shirt. I ran with my friend Rachel and I made it 7 mile before I had to walk. I let her go ahead and I walked to the next water station and did some stretches. I walked another 0.25mi and all the sudden without thinking I started to jog again. At this point I was in a slower crowd and I passed alot of joggers. I felt my knee again and walked for a bit and took a picture. The mile long big hill into downtown was coming up and I got excited. I jogged to the next aid station and they were handing out gel packs. I took one and ended up running for 0.5mi at a sub 9min pace. I walked again for a quarter mile then started jogging up the long incline. I train for hills and noticed alot of people walking.
At the top of the hill I got on Houston street and the sidewalks were lined with spectators cheering and it echoed in off all the buildings. My focus changed and I did not feel any pain. I ended up sprinting to a sub 7 min pace then catching my breath for a minute doing this 4 time until I reached the convention center. When we hit mile 10 I had to power walk for half a mile to recover. My watch showed my average pace was 10:30 and I realized running at 7:00 and walking at 13:00 helped me keep a decent average. I walked the uphills, jogged the downhills, and ran the flats. I caught up the the pace leader holding the 2:10 sign. I only had 1.5 mile left and I did my best to keep up. With 0.5 to go I was in alot of pain but I gave the rest of my effort and finished in 2:15:48.
I was in alot of pain the rest of the day but I was glad I did not back out. I was very close to not even going. I have not run since Sunday and I am not sure if I will be able to run the Full marathon in April I have been training for since November. I decided to sign up for the Tough Mudder with my father-in-laws team so that I have something coming up to look forward to and continue training. I have started doing wide grip pull up to help me with my climbing.

Awesome Job BryanL...
...I just wanted to pop in and tell you thank you when you responded to my previous post a while back regarding running and the BFL program since I was new to BFL (my first cycle). Lately I have been a more casual runner...perhaps mostly on the elliptical...but you have got me more excited about running lately.
I do have an annual event in my planning for August... hopefully BFL will help me get to a weight that will take me out of the Clydesdale runner category.
I am actually there now but want to keep trending lower.
I hope your knee injury is in the process of healing. I hate it when things like that happen and slow up your training plan. Hang in there!
Good luck with the April Marathon.
New to the crew...Jeff
I am not going to tell you that it will be easy ... I am going to tell you that it will be worth it!
