Please help me figure this out... I'm female, 29, 54.5".
I follow the BFL eating plan, for the most part. Yes I've had some holiday indulgences. I have spent the last 4 months slowly working on my pushups, planks, and squats. I do it twice a week. I walk or lightly jog 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. I went from doing 3 knee pushups to currently 15 - and feeling strong while doing them. I went from 12 to 22 squats w/ 8lb medicine ball. I went from REALLY hard plank to getting much stronger at it. I can carry my bike up a few flights of stairs now, whereas before I could not. So, my pants feel tighter sometimes (although depends on time of day...in morning waist and muffin top area are normal measurements but in afternoon they measure 1 inch more). Blah. And my weight went from my standard 137 lbs to now 143 lbs. Hoping it's mostly muscle gain...I know you usually gain some fat too with muscle. I've been eating more protein. A bit of holiday eating...well not too much...but nothing crazy. Imma be so mad if it's all fat gain. How can I tell?
I can only suggest that you get the original BFL book (if you don't already own it) and follow it to a T for 12 weeks. Three strength workouts a week, and 3 20-minute HIIT cardio sessions a week. Six meals a day, with palm sized protein portions, fist sized carb portions, and veggies. You don't seem happy with the results of the routine you've been on, so give BFL 12-weeks by the book. You will be happy with those results, but you have to commit.
Best of luck, you can do this!
