I'm about to jump into the 12 week challenge, but had a few questions so I can get started on the right foot. I hope this is the right place to ask.
As much as I'd like to use myoplex exclusively, I find that it is much too expensive for me. I think I'd be spending upwards of 40 bucks a week if I were doing 3 shakes a day (as mr Phillips talks about doing in his book). I agree that it would be very convenient, but I'm hoping to find another alternative. Currently, for my workouts I have protein that I've purchased in bulk from Costco. Sometimes it is the eas protein (non myoplex), other times it is by a company called cytosport (I think). I've used the eas for a while and I like it quite a bit.
heres the rub though. I absolutely hate mixing protein shakes with water. Most of the time I use apple juice and sometimes milk (2%). The taste of water protein just gets to me. I know that I can't use juice, but what about milk? What considerations need to be made for that? Especially if having a couple a day?
also, I'll be working out with a buddy. Is there a recommendation for time between sets when working out? The book doesn't seem to go into specifics for rest times and such. I just hope that us alternating sets doesn't hinder our progress.
any thoughts would be appreciated.
I wouldn't recommend protein with milk and if you do, make it skim milk, not 2%. 2% has too much fat. I use Myoplex but only take 2 servings a day, but don't use it on free days. I order it from bodybuilding.com and it costs about $90 a month with shipping. I also use the Cytosport protein from Costco, but use it with water. Wasn't the greatest at first, but it kind of grows on you. I have 2 shakes of that a day.
In regards to working out with a buddy, I would suggest using dumb bells as much as possible so you don't have to spend time switching weights. If you're close to the same weight, you won't have to battle time as much. Just stay as close to the 1 minute breaks as possible.
