Finished last workout for Week 6. Had a good cardio to end it. Now I just need to eat for the day. Halfway point of another challenge for me. Still focused on my ultimate goals, and I continue to see my body change slowly towards where I want it to be. My weight continues to slip down, pound by pound, even though it's not as fast as it was back in January and February. That's to be expected. This continues to be a process, not a quick event. This is my lifestyle. Hope everyone is doing great!
got a little unfocased this week, need to get back, I am one free day ahead, need to cut one this week to be even on program, have also increase some food consumption due to lots of social functions this week. No this coming week, so will be back on track by this Saturay.
A couple of major fails this week - took 2 and a half free days this week instead of 1, and only 1 workout!! My entire apartment complex (actually 3-4 city blocks) lost water access due to a pipe which broke several feet underneath in the parking lot. The apartment complex had to call a plumbing company, the city couldn't come and fix it I guess because it was on private property. I couldn't take a shower, flush a toilet, do laundry, cook, or wash dishes for several days. I ate out and tried to avoid getting sweaty in any way. Miserable.
Better luck with the upcoming week!
Hope all of you are doing well!
Hey everybody! I haven't been on in a while because I am SUPER busy taking care of my baby birds. I hand feed them and there are 6 at the moment. It is a lot of work!
I have maintained my weightloss by sticking to the diet. This is the first time in my life that I have lost weight and kept a conistent diet for longer than a month, and because of that I have not gained weight back. I planned to start a 3rd challenge and I will be sticking to that plan. I took a break from the gym in my second challenge, so I have maintained but I don't have jaw dropping results. I still feel very happy with what I have done. I have literally gained 80 pounds in 3 months in the past, when I got skinny from crash diets and then ate normal again. So to know that in 3 months I can be the same or even better is just a great feeling, because this program can be sustained for life!
So far this year I have lost 50 pounds by doing this. I can't emphasize enough how important the diet is. I never realized just how important it was until doing this. Basically I have found that the right combination of food and portions will have a person losing weight by eating enough to be healthy but not so much that you store extra calories. Then with the exercise, you shape what is underneath so that when the fat is gone, you look and feel great. The muscle and cardio activity burns calories, but the significant fat loss is from the deficit in diet. Feels great to have finally figured out something so simple!
I've started the challenge and have settled on using EAS 100% Whey Protein (Two shakes a day) and EAS Muscle Armor (Right after Workout). This is on top of my four other meals each day.
My goal is to get down to 12% body fat from 32% and look like Barnette Holston from last year's challenge. He had my body shape and weight starting out so it looks realistic. Anyone have any advice for products I should be using outside of what I have selected? From reading the body-for-life book and talking with the challenge reps via phone, I'm really confused. They all seem to have a different view. I realize they are in the business of selling product, however I sure wish I knew what Barnette used during his challenge. At this point, I feel like it is a crap shoot concerning the products I should be using.
MaxRex...don't focus so much on products. Yes, they're beneficial, but they don't make the individual. Everyone's body reacts a little differently, so you could use the exact same supplements as Barnette, but that wouldn't guarantee the same results. I would recommend at a minimum, Whey Protein (which you have on your list) and Creatine. I've heard great reviews of Muscle Armor, though I've never personally used it. You have a pretty lofty goal in front of you, so take it day by day. Bring your "A" game to your workouts everyday, eat proper portion amounts, and you should be okay. You'll see some great results. I've had pictures of other individuals who completed the challenge, to motivate me in the past, but I've never expected the same results. What they did was their challenge. What I do is mine.
Had a great workout yesterday and this morning. Chest and bi's are pretty sore yet today, so must have been effective. Eating has been good. Enjoying Week 7!
Finished Week 7 workouts. Everything has gone well this week. Can't complain about anything. Eating is going well and I'm hitting my workouts and they're top quality workouts. So, I just need to stay focused. Heading into Week 8 (can't believe I'm already to Week 8). School has started again for me, so that only helps, as it puts me on a more normal routine, which is always a positive. I haven't heard from people from a while, so I hope you're all doing well. Laura, hope everything got fixed from the storm, and you were able to stay the course. Caity, keep feeding those birds. Can't wait until you start your next challenge, and we see the gains again. Glad to hear you haven't gained anything back. Truly a testament to your will to change, which is what is required in life. It would be easy to go back to old ways. The real challenge is in staying on the healthy lifestyle train. America makes it so easy to run amok and eat whatever you want, whenever you want, and pretty much wherever you want. Plan those meals, and stick to the plan, and you'll be okay!!! Happy Saturday everyone!
Mike I am one week behind you. I am starting week seven of my second challange tomorrow. I don't post often, but i love keeping up with all of you. You all have been very inspirational and motivating. I hope all of you have a great week. Keep working hard. I know i don't have to tell any of you this, but this program is so worth it! It is amazing how this program changes you from the inside out, and not just physically. I cant imagine ever going back to the way i was...praying i won't.
I started week 7 yesterday and have notice a big difference, on vacation with friends for 12 days, will be a challenge, but whats a challenge without the sweet taste of accomplishment? Did great all day, went to two restaurants and then blew it, but, will just make it the free day, so far so good for day 2 of week 7, good luck to everyone
Had an extremely unhealthy free day yesterday, but that's pretty typical for me. LOL Glad to be back on the program today. Started the week off with an enormous leg workout. Legs were and continue to ache with joys of pain. Can't say that I enjoyed the actual workout, but glad I did it. I'm in Week 8 this week, so I have photos on Sunday. Need to make it a great week for that reason alone! Hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday!
Started Week 9 today! The last 4 weeks...the sprint to the finish line!!! Still focused as can be. Still eating well! Down a total of 14 pounds this challenge period, which is really misleading, as I put on 7 or 8 pounds of water weight on my week off between my last challenge and this challenge, and lost all of that weight in my first week back in the gym. Going off my end weight of my last challenge, I'm down 6 pounds this challenge period, which I'm still happy about. I'm inching down to my ultimate goal weight, and the weight is definitely not flying off like it did during the first 2 challenges. I'm just about out of the 180's and into the 170's.
Had a great workout to start out Week 9. After the free day I had yesterday, it was very well needed! Have eaten well today, though I think my body is still rather upset with how I ate yesterday. Monday's are like that. Oh well, the day is almost over, and my body should be back to normal tomorrow. Enjoying the extra day off from work, but not eating any different than any other Monday. Those non-BFLers can eat all that fattening food today. I'll stick with the program!
4th day of Week 9 workout completed. Day 60! Down to 24 days! Everything continues to go well. Did an abs workout this morning and some sprints for HIIT training. Felt great! Eating is going well. Really can't complain about anything right now. I continue to inch towards my ultimate goals, and I continue to have more and more energy. I'm not just living life, I'm enjoying life!!!
Great Job Mike!!
Tis better to look UP in the mirror to be inspired than to look DOWN at the scale and lose your desire!! - SEM
Mike, there have been so many days the last 2 months where I think about just being content with where I am, that it wouldn't be a big deal to stop now, and I think about how you still post regularly and haven't lost your focus to keep doing this thing. You are such a freaking inspiration, good example, and motivator. I am so impressed and happy for you, you have no idea.
I wanted to give an update, I have been really busy so I don't come here and post like I used to. But I have a busy life now because of Body for Life, I had so many physical problems that got in the way of what I wanted to do and now I am living my life better than I ever thought I would be able to.
So here is a picture I took today. This is the first time EVER that I have seen some suggestion of muscle tone under the fat on my abdomen. I look in the mirror like, "huh? is that really me?" its awesome! I have lost 50lbs, and I also am wearing the belt I had to buy last winter, with the pants that I couldn't get above my thighs. Feels good man.
Way To Go Lil Caity!! You're doing fantastic! I was wondering where you've been lately. What do you mean by it would be okay to stop now? If you stop you might backslide. I know you don't want that.
