Yeah, it was exactly 42 minutes ... how'd you guess that?!
hehe lucky guess...i wonder how the others are doing? Not seeing a lot of action here. Tomorrow is my free day. I think I might do my UBWO anyway and just have one free meal instead of what I did last week.
meal 5 left me satisfied. Ate a little more then I normally do; maybe because I ate it so close to my daily dairy dose. I feel overall I am kicking butt and very motivated. I visualize several times a day about what I will look like at 6 and 12 weeks. Already intent on C2, but I just need to get through each day, 7 of those is a week about 4 1/2 of those is a month, enough of those and I have a challenge complete. Multiple challenges and I'm BFL!
My son graduated from high school last night, and I fell to the temptation of cake. I also missed one meal because of driving to and attending the ceremony, so maybe there's a bit of cancellation in the calories missed and gained, but I am still slightly annoyed at myself about it. The program's clearly about what you eat as well as just calorie control, so it was definitely a fail.
(and it wasn't one of those things like insulting the cook or the host if you don't have some ... I just wanted the cake).
How I feel at this point:
I keep waffling, because I could go in a different direction and run a couple of miles a day with long runs at 10+ miles on the weekends. That carves fat off very fast, and my main reason for specifically targeting a "program" is that I picked up a potbelly while eating to heal from surgery. The belly really bothers me (it is not normal at this weight for me), and I could get rid of it faster than in 12 weeks. On the other hand, that kind of running is not entirely healthy -- you can easily lose muscle as well as fat. I('ve never had much muscle, and it does look as though my arms are bulking up a bit (I was already lifting for a couple of weeks before starting BFL). I'd like a bit more muscle; never really had any.
So I am seeing some success in the muscle, no real loss of fat that I can see, and the voice in my head keeps reminding me that I have the ability to get rid of that fat, really fast. The athletic equivalent of anorexia, I guess. :) I've kept it at bay so far by doing some walking, which is supposed to be fine in BFL.
Other thing is that I also quit smoking while I was in the hospital, and at 4 months I still have cravings for nicotine. So my urge to snack is pretty strong. Lot of celery being eaten here.
What's going on guys?! Probably not a lot of action because we lost everyone is my guess. Most all of the success stories I've read say the first coupla weeks are tough, so I made a pact with myself-- no matter what!-- I'm simply putting my head down and forcing myself through them. (I quit smoking too, Mythmere) AAAAAAAAAAAND.... I've done it! Not a single cheat on meals or workouts! If you knew me, that's extraordinary. I gotta admit I'm a little proud of myself. My worst "infraction" is a meal or two 45 minutes late off my schedule. Whoa! Lol. Anyway, it's great you two are still in it! Just keep going, August will be here in two seconds. (cough) I can totally tell I've lost weight, my scale is all over the place so I don't even use it anymore, but my face as much leaner, my double chin is sloooowly fading and my boobs (arg) are shrinking! Today will be a "measurable" day-- hanging out with my girlfriends and going to a gallery opening, they haven't seen me since I started and one of them took my before picture, so... we'll see. I mean I stopped drinking and started exercising every day, it OUGHT to be noticeable!!
You guys enjoy the rest of the day and REALLY enjoy tomorrow, and then, let's kick ass next week! Who's with me?! (Bill Murray in Stripes!)
Hi everyone! I haven't really been posting much but just wanted to compare how everyone else is doing so far. I feel like I have been working out hard and I have definitely been VERY sore, but no results at all. Actually, I have gotten BIGGER. I know that eventually it will even out and the muscle will burn the fat and I will get smaller, but it's really frustrating to not see results AND get bigger :(
NOT giving up..but feeling a little hopeless for any results...
Alex, I wouldn't worry about it. I am seeing more muscle on my arms only because they are EXTREMELY thin already with no concealing fat (lots of muscle loss while recovering from surgery). If you've got a layer of fat where you're building muscle, the muscle will stay hidden. And if you are both burning fat and building muscle, your scale weight is not necessarily going to change much.
What pianoman is describing is extremely unusual. On the other hand, most of the guys on the program apparently start showing results (really noticeable rather than just observable) somewhere around 4-7 weeks, with the women starting to show the dramatic results at week 8. It's apparently more sudden for the women, a bit more gradual for the guys.
Hi, new here. I started on 5/21 also. My main goal is to lose body fat. I'm one of those skinny fat people. I weigh 126 lb, 5'8", but 24.4% body fat! Over the past two years I have suffered with Hashimoto's disease ans hypothyroidism. I feel like I'm swimming uphill and I know what a great thing being positive is, but I'm not sure how well things will go results wise. I normally don't eat that much and was on the Paleo diet before, but cutting back on portions and carbs doesn't cut it anymore with my hormonal issues. I am really hoping this plan works.
I know it is best to do the workouts first thing in the morning, but will I still get the good results if I workout mid morning. Sometimes I just can't get out of the bed early in the mornings?
Hi BabyA! I don't know the answer to that question, but I think the "morning" thing really means "before you eat."
My UBWO today:
Chest:
db press 12x15, 10x20, 8x25, 6x30, 12x20,(switch to fly for 12x10). I should have tried the fly with 15, that was the plan, and I wimped out on it... although I am not sure I could have finished all 12 at a 15 weight.
Shoulders: db side raise 12x5, 10x5, 8x10, 4x15 (to fail), 12x10 (intensity=10), (switch to overhead press 12x10 with intensity at 9-10).
Back
wide grip lats 12x55, 10x65, 8x70, 6x80, 12x65, (switch to reverse pulldown 12x65). Intensity almost exactly followed the by the book sequence.
Tricep (overhead with 1 db) 12x10, 10x15, 8x20, 6x25, 12x15, 12 more at 15 because there was no bench I could use for lying db extensions.
Bicep
Hammer curls: 12x5, 10x10, 8x15, 3x20 (to fail), 12x10, (switch to seated curls 2@10 then 10@5, failed after those first 2).
I am about medium satisfied with it, I guess.
I hardly think what I described as my progress is "extremely unusual", I said my face looks leaner. Thanks for the kudos and support dude. Best of luck.
2 June was a free day - nuff said.
Here is my log from 3 June.
Will post 4 June log later today. Have a good one everyone.
the date on the log above is a typo...it should have read 3 june...2 weeks down for C1; 10 weeks to go for C1
Awesome upper body strength, KO! I hope to get to those weights in a couple of weeks, but I'm nowhere near, yet. *sigh*
Yesterday was a small disaster. I ate well and stuck to the diet with no problem. But in the morning I did my aerobics on the home treadmill I thought I had fixed. It broke at 16 mins. So I reaccomplished it later last night.
No gym equipment failures today. Lots of unauthorized food temptations today. Was able to escape without consuming any but it was tuff. I am thinking of a new approach. Lowering weights and really focusing on technique, but I don't know. How's everyone doing?
