Morning all!!!! I hope everyone is rocking along! The weekend was awesome. I got sunburned at the lake Sunday- my shoulders hurt! Trying to figure out how I'm gonna make it thru UBWO!
Hope to day is awesome and blessed:)
Hey everyone! So a little helpful info-- my friend who did BFL back in 2001 turned me onto a great website-- www.vitacost.com. They have Myoplex at wholesale prices! Enter "Myoplex" in the search and all their products come up (well, not all the EAS products, just the ones vitacost carries) I ordered a box of Myoplex Original Strawberry, a box of 20, normally $59 they sell it for $35. Word.
Still not happy with my UBWO. I suppose I am not used to so many reps and over estmating my strength and endurance. It is humbling, ney, embarrassing when I have to pick up such low weights. Especially for arms. Diet is nearly rock solid, I found myself without shakes or bars today but I fixed that on the way home with a small pick up of myoplex at target. It was under $20 for 4 shakes and 10 bars and that will hold me over till my online order comes in.
The activity seems to have died off slightly on this thread. How is everyone doing? Any issues? Successes? One of the guys I work with quotes the following, "Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation". Share some successess with the caviat of tracing that success to preparation and opportunity. I will start.
I have had 95% success in diet because I plan my diet well. Going to the store and getting only authorized foods and enough to keep me going for 4 to 5 days at a time. The preparation was proper shopping, the opportunity was being surrounded by authorized foods that I enjoy and that has equaled diet success!
Ok, your turn. Keep on keeping on!
I have not posted for a few days, due to having some bad few days. Sick kiddo - was an ear infection, and now have medication and is feeling better, but is also teething so that is still disturbing the sleep cycle. Due to the illness though I missed Thursday and Friday's workout, since I didn't want to take him in their ill, and his appt was Friday morning, and the kid zone (daycare) is only open in the mornings at my gym. Then Saturday they put up a little sign that the kid zone would be closed both Saturday and Monday due to the holiday. Husband still had to work, so again no workouts. Though I did swim at the neighbors with the kiddos on Sunday.
Monday afternoon/evening the a/c went out (the unit was completely frozen), and the guy didn't get out here until this (Tuesday) afternoon. To top it off we've been dealing with ants coming through the doors and windows (the two that have screens anyway), husband sprinkled the granules around those areas of the house, I swear it wa smore like a calling card/beacon than a deterant. Then I woke up this morning (already hot - due to no a/c and tired - due to baby wanting to stay awake from 2:30 - 5:30 this morning) with ANTS in the pantry. No visible trail from any entrance (window or door); they appear to be coming up behind the counters/cabinets - where the granite is not flush to the wall. So I didn't make it to the gym again because I was killing ants and cleaning the pantry, and waiting for the A/C guy to show up.
Needless to say I have not been to the gym since last Wednesday for all these various reasons, and my diet has suffered to do to being an emotional/stress eater.
I'm thinking I picked the wrong time to start - everything has been all off since I did! (Ok - that's just my weary brain talking, but that is what it feels like).
Keeping my fingers crossed I make it to the gym in the morning, as the pest control people are not coming out until late afternoon.
However, I am impressed with everyone else's successes - especially over the holiday weekend! WAY TO GO!!
What is everyone doing for breakfast? This is one I've been struggling with so I'm looking for some new ideas to incorporate.
Thanks! i have decided to SAVE it for my Cheat Day. i am a peanutbutter-holic! i cant trust myslef once the jar is opened SO i will NOT open it AT ALL 6 days a week :)
I wish I didn't have to open it - but I have 2 little boys and a little girl who like their peanut butter and jelly. I will just have to enforce that will power! Good Luck!
I missed posting yesterday but my wife and I run the polling place for elections and it was the Texas primaries yesterday. We were in the building from 6AM to 8PM ... when we finally got back from dropping off the election supplies it was 9:30PM and I was too exhausted to do the aerobic workout. I'm getting ready to go to the gym for the UBWO today. I didn't track my food yesterday, but I didn't eat any junk and I think I ended up with the right number of meals by the end of the day (2 of them were definitely back-to-back at the end of day, though). So, I didn't actually fall off the wagon, but I got bounced out of the seat for a second. :)
I need to get a speed rope to keep at the house, because the 8 minute drive to the gym is still a psychological barrier making the aerobic workout seem like more of a hassle.
Pep talk time! :) There's no such thing as the wrong time to start, unless you're in it only to win a competition ... if you're in it for yourself, then even if you can't manage perfection ... well, do you know anyone who manages perfection? All those twenty year old kids walking around with the sculpted bodies aren't doing it because they have more willpower or better organization, they are able to do it because their lives are less crowded and they are working with younger bodies that react faster to exercise. We can do that too (I know, because I HAVE) but it takes more time -- for us, it's a somewhat longer and bumpier road to get there, but it is completely possible as long as you can take the difficult days in stride. And that is one thing that a parent knows how to do.
Even 12 weeks of off-and-on success is 100% better than 1 week of perfect success and 11 weeks of "this was a bad time to start." Right? Right!
Today was aerobic day for me. At 730 I was on the treadmill grinding out the minutes and everything went great until 18:30 minutes into the workout when the treadmill died. The lights above me when out too. Blackout! I leaped off the treadmill and went to open the garage door...no dice. "Oh right, no power", I thought. I quickly moved through the house and headed for the front door determined to finish my workout. I burst out the door and immediately knock the Fed Ex lady down in my haste. Opps! I couldn't just bolt away to finish the last 90 seconds of my workout. I helped her up and apologized profusely. So what now? Should I reaccomplish the workout later today? I feel like I have unfinished business. Not happy. Can't believe it happened right in the middle of the high point.
Arms too tired to reach keyboard.
Typing with nose.
So I've been hungry all day, but I've stuck to the BFL meal plan (save 2 plain M&Ms). What does hunger even mean? Am I not eatting enough or is something else? How do I respond to hunger and still stick to the meal plan? Slight frustration.
Thanks Mythmere. I came to the same conclusion, not that my week is getting any better. I did make it in to do my UBWO yesterday and it felt great, but now my daughter is sick, so I won't be going in today. Going to attempt to do some cardio here at the house, but with one sick kid on the mend and one just getting sick, not sure I'll be able to squeeze it in. I'm going to try. However, on a positive I decided I was going to at least stick with the nutrition, and while still not perfect, I have not completely jumped off the wagon.
@ Mythmere - haha - typing with your nose - I'm going to take it you had a really good UBWO!
@ KO - That's a good question. One that I don't have the answer for - maybe try adding more fiber, that will at least help you stay full longer, and it's good for your system too. My go-to in the fiber area is celery - sometimes w/ 1/2 an avocado mashed into guacomole with a little lemon juice and a tiny pinch of salt, or I also eat the Laughing Cow Cheese wedges - very low calorie, or hummus. I'll sometimes have it with lunch or as my afternoon snack.
Good Luck! You 2 have been doing so great it keeps me inspired to keep trudging along. :)
Frustration: diet fail today, missed meal 4 and very late on meal 5. Had to baseline a new workout spot today; work gym. It's behind me and tomorrow will be BFL business as normal. I'm going to pretend I am the Hulk. "HULK SMASH OBSTICLES!"
LBWO (this is where I look good, unlike my UBWO)
12 x 120 (7)
10 x 135 (7-8)
8 x 150 (8)
6x 165 (8)
12 x 150 (9-10)
Leg Press: 12 x 280 (8)
Lying leg curl:
12 x 60
10 x 65
8 x 70
6 x 75
Sitting leg curl 12 x 45-55 (changed weight and butt kept sliding in stupid seat on stupid machine) (9)
Sitting Calf: 12 x 140 (mistake, was supposed to be 160)
10 x 170
8 x 180
6 x 200 (upped from planned 190)
12 x 160
Standing calf (total fails) dropped from 135 to 90, about 10 reps with good form, probably messed up form on last 2. Ouch.
(I DID SOME ABS!) A different machine, which is probably not as good a machine as the one I was using, but this one doesn't strain the healing muscles.
10 x 50
8 x 60
6 x 70
12 x 65
Decline sit-up 12 x 0.
In fact, nothing on the abs really broke a 7, but I was being really cautious.
I think the ridiculous differential between my legs and upper body is because of all the running over past years. Legs are pretty well trained, upper body is not. It's funny that I have to use tiny little dumbbells in the free weights area for upper body; and then setting about 3/4 of the whole stack when I'm doing quads and calves. My hamstrings are more normal, for some reason.
@mythmere - how did the timing work out on the last LBWO? 42 Mins?
