Looking for a Mentor- Starting April 30, 2012 for the first time.

  • I just logged on here and started today as well. Mind if I join too? I have the book and started keeping a log of my food on myfitnesspal.com and am using the B4L journals to track my workouts. I woke up crazy early this morning for the first day (which is amazing since I haven't been able to wake up early since the time change). Anyways, going well so far. I know my biggest challenge over the next 12 weeks will be the willpower to eat right. I have hyperthyroidism and am ALWAYS hungry and I LOVE sweets.

Anyways, good luck to everyone. Stay strong and take it one day at a time and in 12 weeks we'll have so much to be proud of!

As a random question, did any of the previous champions or challengers inspire any of you? I picked up the book over the weekend and Julie Whitt's story just blew me away. What an amazing woman and what perseverance she had. Reading her story made me realize I certainly had no excuse for not doing this and sticking to it.

  • Hey Friends!  Excited about Day 1.  I took my measurements yesterday and am about 2 inches smaller all over than I was when I first did BFL almost 8 years ago!  I think I'd like to drop another 2 inches all over.  I wrote my goals in my journal last night. It's a make shift journal till the Body For Life one comes in.  I love that journal.  Very thorough and inspirational to see what others have done.  Got up at 5:15 to do my upper body workout!  Went great.  Looking forward to seeing an increase in my strength.  Here's to a great Monday and new friends!  See you tomorrow!

  • Hey all- Can I join it too???  I just started BFL for the first time today.  Grocery shopped and planned meals yesterday and had my first UB workout this am.  It's so cool to think that when I was pushing through that workout you guys were too!!!  Is anyone else incorporating workouts that are not on the BFL schedule?  I've been going to a bootcamp style gym for about 9 weeks ago and we're like a little family.  I don't want to stop going there entirely so I'm planning to split the week between the BFL workouts and bootcamp workouts.  Nice to meet everyone!

  • Hey everyone!  What a great group we are forming up here!  It's exciting to read about everyone's first day!  I just scored a super deal on a heart rate monitor on eBay!  I'm really excited to get that and start using it on my HIIT runs.  I have no idea HOW to use it, but I'm excited to get to try to figure it out! LOL

3 clean meals down, 3 to go.  2 liters of water on board, hope to get 2 more in by days' end!

It's all about progress, not perfection.

  • Hi, I am starting today too! I am so tired of not being happy with my body! I have tried to start the challenge before but never follow through.  We can do this!

  • Okay, finished my UB lifting.  Also, eating from the BFL Cookbook.  It sure seems like a lot of calories.  I am just wondering how it works.  It seems like it would vary as to male/female, age, height all that.  I am just worried I am eating too many calories.  Any thoughts?

  • Alright, I didnt get to the Gym at 5 before classes like I wanted, but I did get my UB work in this afternoon.  Good clean meals.. and have started the H2O consumption.  good luck to everyone... One day almost down... cardio tomorrow... that is generally the days that i skip( i loathe cardio)

  • Hello my beautiful siblings!

Upper body later when my husband can watch our 4 year old. So thankful to be back "home". :D:D

  • Hello, cowgirl! I adore the EFL cookbook but only eat from it on my freedays (with the exception of a few recipes). The portions are really too large for most women and maybe even some men. Be careful, my love. I just don't want you to fall into that trap (as Jess calls it). :D:D You are too beautiful and too important.

  • I have no idea what I am doing, never been in a forum before. Strange to say that considering I am pretty computer literate! LOL How do you join a group? Did I do it just by responding?

So here's my story LOL I am actually starting Wednesday, was going to do today however the weekend got a bit crazy so I had to push back to when I could actually get to the grocery store without my little man and actually focus on me! I am in need of losing a lot of weight! I gained my weight back in 2005-2006 when I got pregnant. My husband passed away when my son was 5 months old and I have just been trying to get by each day. It has been 5 years since his accident and I really need to focus on my future and not my past. I am looking for people who can help me stay on track! Could I join you all here?

    JustJen315 :)

  • Jen, you are most welcome here with us! You are finally home, darlin'. :D You are so very strong for forging ahead in the face of adversity. I also have a good deal of weight to lose so we will do it together. :D Hugz, MK

  • I would love to join you all on the challenge.   I bought the book over the weekend and didn't quite finish it, but decided there is no day like today to start.   I started my day walking for 45 minutes then did the upper body workout on my total gym for another 40 minutes.   I planned my meals and followed them only adding in a small package of sunflower nuts that I found in my desk.  I figured that was alright as I had only used one of my c group selections for the day.  I need to review how many portions to eat.   I ate six meals but think it should have only been 5.   I'm so confused.. lol.   Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better through this forum and the accountability.

  • Hi all!  I'm a first timer that's starting the B4L journey tomorrow.  I'm also looking for accountability.

  • I am sore today! But proud of myself because I got up early this morning to work out before work and ate healthy all day.  I am tired now though so heading to bed early!

  • Agreed. I did my UB workout this am and stuck with the meals that are suggested online for first timers. Was a little hungry but managed through the day. And I drank more water on my first day on BFL than i have in about a week!  Crazy but it does feel good. I'm a little worried about not following the cardio routine properly since I've never done intervals before. I'll just do my best! Congrats to all for completing the first day. It's great being accountable to another group of BFLers
