Anyone still around from the original 01 Aug 2011 and Back-2-Back groups, hope to see you here.
It looks like there are several other threads with groups starting 09 April. I am reluctant to join yet another group that dwindles away to a number I can count on one hand. I may hang out here and hope Cheatday, Helcat, srbrown, accessingchange, and any others from our group decide to come by.
Thanks for getting this thread started monscal - I love posting and reading from our group.
I was thinking this a.m. - first challenge I did my pics and measurements and weight. I think this time I will add in the fat pinch test - caliphers (sp?). Where can I get that done? I don't work out with a trainer at my gym, so I was thinking that was a service they'd only allow to paying customers...have y'all had that done?
BTW, wearing a pre-baby size 8 skirt to work today! Yahoo :)
Hi, srbrown.
I have always wanted to get that done. My gym is downstairs, so I don't have a gym/trainer/someone to pinch my fat and measure it for me either!! I was thinking of asking my doctor, next time I go see her. They probably have the calipers in most doctors' offices. I remember looking them up online many months ago, but I forget why I didn't actually order them. I think maybe it was because they didn't ship from the States to Canada or something like that. Maybe I didn't find a site in Canada, can't remember. Congrats on the size 8! More later.
Hey monscal, so glad you're keeping the drive alive, I'm still with ya sister.
Been a tough stretch for me, but I'm still working at it. I'm running in the Sun Run this Sunday, it's a 10K... lets just say I'm "walk - running" it shall we? I'm holding steady at my 80lbs lost so far, that does sound impressive I know, but that's b/c most pl are trying to cut off 20 or 30lbs... lets just say I'm half way to my "ideal" weight ;-)
Anyway, you all know my story so I'll just try to be popping up more often to give you my support.
This is it, the 4th (back to back to back to back) 12 week BFL challenge, I know that helcat is going to be around "discipline is remembering what you want", great to see srbrown is in, hope accessingchange is good to join in with us too.
And to all others that are starting their first go at the body for life 12 week challenge, you might want to hang with this old crew, we've been kicking this BFL can around for a while now and might be able to help you through the tough times with some sagely advice and more efficiently hit your 10's.
Here we go gang, keep it clean and aim for failure.
cheatday
Hola, cheatday!
So good to hear from you. Doing a 10K run/walk-run/walk is impressive no matter how you cross the finish line. I don't have it in me. If I did it by myself, just to do it, maybe run/walk-run into town, I might, but organized, with other people, no way, probably for the same reason my gym is downstairs and not in town where others are. I need to do stuff like this on my own. I tend to push myself harder than anyone else every could, but I also beat myself up more than anyone else would ever dare, so I'm on my own.
So day 1 yesterday felt good. Coming home from a doctor's appointment, I had a bad migraine, so had to sleep it off. When I woke up, I didn't feel too bad and thought, if I don't do my UBWO today, on day 1, I'm already behind, so I forced myself to do it and did really well. Today is cardio, so I'm turning my mind to that. I'll have to fit it in before I get a headache and before my knees start to stiffen up for some unknown reason. I have to make it through this first week the way I did back in August; otherwise, I'll be making excuses for the next twelve weeks and have no results to show for it. Like you, I maintained over the last challenge, which is fine, but I am, nonetheless, disappointed in the effort I put into it. I think I got lazy and thought, I don't look so bad, and then I got used to it and thought, it's so much hard work and Pawn Stars is on. I'll catch up tomorrow.
I can't believe it just started snowing!!
Also, let me know if you're interested in that tea I mentioned.
I love that - aim for failure!!
srbrown - I found them at the Treadmill Factory. It looks like there's a store not too far from me. Too bad we didn't have this conversation on Sunday, as we were there yesterday and I could have picked one up. Oh, well. I can call and see if they have them in stock or if they have to order them in.
Hey group - just one of those 'fellow' 9ers [started on Apr 9th].
GNC has calipers for around $15-$20 US if you are looking for some. Not sure if they are in your area. I used them perhaps 4 times during my first C1...I am kind of a data junky so when the scale wasn't moving...then I looked at the inches/cm numbers and if they were not changing then I check the BF% finally there were times when my body seemed to stop in all three categories and so I checked in the photos. In all cases when one number or 'method of measurement' did not show progress another would and that helped me stay motivated. In the end all numbers did not move much but the photos at the end show more progress being made and that was satisfying…
…more progress to go.
…have a good strong week!
I am not going to tell you that it will be easy ... I am going to tell you that it will be worth it!
run4life - Thanks for that, but no GNC in my area. I found them on sale for $4.99 (from $39.99), so even with shipping it stays under $15.00.
Cardio is done, along with glutes and inner thigh. Off to a good start.
monscal - sounds like you found a great deal...glad you are off to a great start.
I am off sequence a little bit now UBWO tonight.
all the best.
Hi gang!
Checking in. Still struggling with my eating a bit (what else is new?) but my training volume is finally up where I want it.
Did a 32 mile bike on Easter and my legs felt great, though upper back and neck were a bit sore - will really need to work on my upper body endurance. Tweaked my knee a bit by doing a swim with flipper, followed by lots of hills on the bike on Tuesday - probably shouldn't have run yesterday, but it didn't really hurt until after. Today is an off day - right on time!
I've raised a little over $1,200 for my charity so far -- nearly a tenth of what I am shooting for. Starting to plan an event at the club where I work - if anyone is in Massachusetts, let me know and I'll give you the details. Also, if there are any NPR fans out there: Peter Sagal and Karl Kassel of "Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me!" are autographing a hat for me today that will be part of my raffle :-)
Will try to check in a little more regularly this go round - I am 24 weeks out from my race as of Sunday, so I will need to stay focused. Helen

Hi, to all those Back 4 More!
Helcat - Great to hear from you.
Week 1 went well. Did all my workouts! After all these weeks, I am still struggling with eating six times a day! I'm working at home today, so didn't have to wake up to my alarm screaming at me. Now that I've slept in, I'm behind by two hours! I'm dressed for my LBWO, so as soon as I feel energized from my morning smoothie, I'll be downstairs working out.
I, too, want to check in more regularly, even if it's just to say hi and say my workout is done.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hi, all.
On track for week 2. All workouts in. Figs and raw cashews for a yummy snack.
How is everyone doing?
Hi, group.
Has anyone else had trouble logging in over the past few days? I haven't been able to post since the above. I hope everyone is doing well.
Day 1 of week 3 today. Just getting ready to do UBWO. Really looking forward to it. After two weeks, I am noticing some nice muscle tone happening. Cardio has been great. First week, got the six workouts in. Second week, managed an extra cardio. Feeling great.
Yes, as of this morning there were no new posts since Friday. I sent an email to the webmaster to report the problem... just came back now to try it again and see all is well! :)
