MARCH 12, the first day of the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great first week!  Already can tell a difference in the way my clothes fit and I feel great!  Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, getting up at 5 am to work out and eating clean.  Can't wait to hear how the rest of you are doing!

  • I started on March 5th - I'm beginning my 4th week.  Congratulations on your success already.  The only struggle I have is with the cardio - not sure why. But I push through it.  Eating clean becomes addicting!

  • I been walking for cardio-I dont really do much highpoint when walking but I walked 3.5 miles yesterday. I have a Power Rider for for highpoint/intervals. It been very nice weather so I walk.

I hope everyone one is doing well. I know the boards were down off/and one last week. Did my second shopping for BFL food today. Keep it up-it's so worth it. I feel great already at week 3. Energy levels are high and no afternoon slump. I almost don't like free days (almost).

  • Hi Everyone, thought i'd just give a quick update...weight loss so far 7pounds..feel full energy but got to admit today was tought...had a craving for something sweet...glad to say didn't give in so still on track....can i ask how are others doing my bmi has droped 1% feel little dissapointed with that but it's going in the correct direction.

am still learning in the gym think i've got the food plan working..well onwards and upwards!! hope to hear from all fellow bfl!!

  • My first 2 weeks went well - down 3 lbs which is ok but I've lost inches.  When I did the challenge back in 2001, I read the book from cover to cover and it went everywhere with me.  I believe Bill had said not to weigh yourself often and that BMI is not an accurate way to gauge how you are doing as it does not take muscle (which we're building) into account.  I don't have a caliper to check my body fat, but I started by taking measurements at the beginning.

Just push yourself and the results will follow - remember we didn't get this way overnight so it's got to take some work and a bit of time to come off.

I've been doing my workouts at home - have a spreadsheet I created and have the workout guideline printed out and hung up.  Once I'm down a workout - that date gets crossed off the calendar and figures input into the spreadsheet.  I've also got my goals along with some quotes/pictures printed out on a poster board where I can see it when I'm working out.  Also have a picture of me at the end of last challenge near my  exercise bike and when I feel I'm slowing down I look at it and push myself harder.

Hope everyone is doing well and don't give up, the high is just beginning!  =)

  • I just spoke with EAS. and I was told if you're starting out - you may want to lose some fat weight first bfore you begin the Betagen for muscle recovery.  I'm ending my 4th week of the challenge, and I was advised to begin the Betagen for muscle definition and building on the last month.  I'm a woman could be different for me - I'm in the lean and tone category.  I guess if you want to bulk up being a male you would probably start sooner.   I was also advised to do the Myoplex shake about 30 minutes after workout...even though original book says 1 hour.  Hope this benefits someone.

Cheers, and have a great day.

  • Hi, my name is Kelly, I am 28 years old and I started my challenge on March 14.  I'm 5'4 and my starting weight was 152 lbs, and measurements were Waist 33", Hips 42 1/2", Thigh 26".  My goal is to lose 20 lbs of fat and gain 10 lbs of muscle in the next 12 weeks:)  We can all do this!!!

    Kelly

  • Good for you Kelly - yes, I believe we can do it.  I'm just ending my 4th week.  WEight loss doesn't look good - but I'm down 6 inches on m waist. **smiles**  Have a great weekend!

  • Sounds great james. I went into the the program not concerned with bmi or weight. My goal is to build muscle and strength and increase energy and develop a more active lifestyle. I am doing that. I have followed the program to a tee with the exception of the cardio sometimes being long walks- (2.5 to 3.75 miles) I feel and see improvement so I am happy and motivated. Muscle weighs more than fat so the scale is not a good .barometer yet. I hope everyone is going strong.  I have upped my weights on several exercises which shows me progress. I am enjoying my free day today but I really dont go all out. I have lost interest in most junk food and most likely will walk today too just because my energy is up and the sun is out.

  • Update

3 weeks in lost a total of 6lbs only missed 2 workouts, eating much better and feel much better

Would like to see a bigger change in muscle, will continue strong and complete the program and beyond

    keep it up everyone,

  • End of Week 4. Feeling good! Noticing results. I've been using betagen along with Myoplex lite shakes. Again, I've havent been on a scale or doing measurements because I'm for building muscle and increasing energy but I see and feel results. Will keep this up. I feel too good doing it. Enjoy your free day!

  • Dumbbell lunges are killers

  • Congrats everyone for completing Week 4.  We're on third of the way there!!!

NewLife, can you share how you've been using the betagen?  I use the Myoplex Lite shakes and have similar goals of building muscle and getting toned.  I've never taken a product containing creatine before, so have been reading up on it and was wondering your take on it, and how it's been helping you.

    Good luck on Week 5!

  • Hard to say yet how well it works for me but i know it worked well for others. One scoop into 6oz water 3 times a day. One of them right after your work out. I have read on BFL boards its better to take the last 4 weeks of the program. But i plan the whole 12 weeks. HMB is in the drink Ensure now.  I wouldn't take it for ever and you should cycle on it if you take it long term. Here is a link.

  • Thanks for the info.  I opted instead to take Muscle Armor instead of the Betagen.  I know they are not the same, but I've never taken creatine before so prefer to do the challenge w/out it.  I wonder if taking Muscle Armor before my workouts will give me a little boost, obviously not as much as Betagen would have, but curious to see if anything will happen.
