Starting Challenge Feb 13, 2012>Who's With Me?

  • Hello Getndown... hope you are feeling better. Maybe the increase in water will help with the migraines. I know it has helped me. I rarely have them now. Water is my friend.  I have decreased the caffeine but one cup a day sounds do-able. :-) Caffeine is often used to treat migraines.  Are you taking vitamins?  Just brainstorming (if it does not hurt to much to do so.) Rhonda

  • Hello Librarian.  When I gave up the coffee, I started drinking tea.  Usually an herbal but I know tea has caffeine just not as much as coffee...so it may be a good transition ?? for you.  I have been coffee free (with an occasional cup - but it does not even taste good anymore) for about 3 months.   I never have been a soda drinker so I can't give any insight on giving up that poison.

    Peace and Kindness, Rhonda

  • Welcome bean14, I have about the same amount of fat to get off as you do.  Looking forward to this awesome challenge.  My cardio today was the erg.  My daughter got it for Christmas and has rarely used it (she rows).  I am not sure what my 10 looks like yet so I am just recording my distance and my average rows per 5 min to help me establish that info.

Meeting a friend at the gym in the morning for my first lower body workout. Can't wait! Feeling yesterday's upper body workout a little today but nothing I can't handle.

    Challenge On! Rhonda

  • Day 2 done. I did upper body workout. It hurt so bad, but felt great when I was done. Today was a little hard because of all the sweets at school for Valentines Day. I ate clean and plenty of water. 82 days left.

Congrates to all off us for finishing day 2.

  • Day 2 success!  Did my cardio for 25 mins early this morning and I've eaten really well all day - gonna have a juicy, home grilled NY steak, baked sweet potato fries and asparagus for our Valentine dinner.  I feel great - just some expected soreness from UBWO yesterday but it's not excruciating like I thought it might be.  Husband says, "Just wait until tomorrow".  Lol!  Tomorrow is LBWO.

Keep up the great work, everybody - I know we can all get through this together!

  • Hi Angelface,

I'm in too.  Did my first day of workout today?  Feel awkward.  I guess it takes time to get used to what weights to use.  I'm confused about the last part of each rep.  Do you only do 12 reps for the 2nd exercise with the same weight as the last 12 reps of the first exercise?

  • Good Job!

  • Oh good idea!  I'm going to do that

  • Danger Muffin and redgirl45, I am 45 and am "freaking out" too!  My before pictures horrified me.  I can't believe I look this old and out of shape.  I want to feel and look good.  I'm tired of pulling the fat clothes out  of the closet and being in a bad mood all day because it's the only thing that I can fit into.

I am super committed.  Have my workouts and meals planned for this week.  I actually cooked a few different chicken dishes and made portioned lunches, so I can just grab and go in the morning.

I look forward in hearing about your progress.  Us middle-agers need to stick together!!

  • Getndown,

Try drinking a glass of water with 1 tablespoon of sea salt to get rid of the headaches.  I know it sounds gross, but it will work.  I got this pointer from a nurse and the relief was like a gift from heaven!

  • Hey Rhonda - thanks for the SO.  Great job with the rowing, that's a tough workout.

Day two done and done right.  Will be doing the 30 Day Shred as well as my regular workouts.  Love it when Jillian kicks my butt!

  • Day 3 done!  I actually think I could have done more weight on LB this morning, but it was my first time in a long time, so I had to learn what I could and could not lift.  My UB was so sore yesterday - by late evening I was having trouble reaching around and fluffling my pillow!  ;)

I am a 48 Year-old female, so I am feeling right at home with some of you ladies!  Three kids - 24, 13, 11.  Work full time and I too was so embarrassed by my before pictures.  They are well hidden on my computer in a code named folder so my husband doesn't find them!  hehehe

  • Blessed mom,  sounds like you're on the right track joining the gym and zumba class!  Good job!  We followed my son around 18 years playing ball all over the US and I wish I had the tricks back then that I do now about eating and working out.  Having just lost 30 pounds prior to this challenge, one very important thing I have learned about traveling is carrying my own food!  I actually purchased a nice 31 insulated bag that is big enough to carry a fair amount of food and drink, along with ice packs, and not too big to seem bulky...plus 31 bags are "cute".  :)  I'm sure there's something out there similar in stores, but so many people around here were having parties that I got me one.  I pack low fat cheese sticks, boiled eggs, almond butter, almonds, fruit, water, etc.  to make sure I get my protein in and not want to snack on chips and other fatty processed foods.  Good luck!

  • I love the 30 day shred.  Wears me OUT!!!  lol

  • thanks charleyc1.  I've seen those thirtyone bags and they are super cute.
