And good luck from me Tyler. I will be starting on Sunday 1st Jan 2012 (New Zealand) I have about 35 pounds to lose after giving up smoking nearly one year ago. Lets do it!! LOL. I did complete my first challenge way back in about 2000 but have since regained the pounds - especially after having a baby and also giving up the ciggy's!! I am looking forward to the new me (:-))

Our Motivation is to feel heathier, more energy, and Love our bodies that way God intended us to use and be.... That is what I wrote down. to tell you the truth, today is my free day and I still love the way we eat with out a free day. it's refreshing. If I feel discouraged I go for a walk and put my music on and say, Today is the best I'm doing! forgive your self and offer grace. That is what I'm learning from the book.
Holy Cow!! This is definitely the place to be in 2012. Nothin but positive vibes :o)
Did my first challenge many years ago and had great results. Started my 2nd challenge in May 2011 with a shredded ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) knee injury. THe challenge was going well but then a month in my surgery was scheduled and so I had to stop the challenge.
So, here I am good to go 2 Jan...7 months post surgery and ready to see this challenge to the end. I am really excited and am looking forward to reading about everyone's triumphs and of course those trials that are inherent to BFL. I certainly noticed that participating in this forum made a difference with my motivation.
I look forward to sharing the next 3 months with all of you. I wish everyone strength, determination and joy!!
A HAPPY NEW FIT YEAR TO ALL!!
Hi to All. I too will start on January 2nd. I did my last challenge about 10 years ago and got great results. I have not been able to complete it again. 3 babies later, off and on diets and exercise, I am now at my biggest weight ever. I have to do it!! I have too. I feel this will help me in so many areas of my life. Good luck to all.
Great to be with you Tyler and all others! I've tried this before and found the eating part to absolutely the worst - toughest part - and didn't get too far, but I think I actually have that part mastered (read my bio to find out my take) so I am absolutley ready to rock!!! Going to need some great help and ready do all I can for everyone else too! (I hope this posts - still trying to learn that part). Streamlined50 (now 51 and a half)
Great - I wish you the best success! I just signed up and I'm wondering if anyone could tell me where to find the program? I have no idea where to get the nutrition and workout information, what to do each day, etc. Maybe I missed a step. My start date is also the 2nd of Jan.
Thanks - a little confused! Happy New Year!
Hi Lil Blu, info re: training & eating etc is under the Library tab up top :)
To Lil Blu: As Golfpunkgal directs, there is some great info in that Library Tab. Also, if you have not read "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips, this is really the starting place I'd direct you to. It is the very specific instruction and rationale for every part of your transformation from resistance training, cario, and diet. I read it in a day, so if you grab it soon, I'm sure you can be off to a great start!
To Everyone Else: Happy New Years! I admit I enjoyed some good celebration food last night, but only because I knew January 2 is coming. And so am I.
I am counting down the minutes to 5:30am tomorrow morning when it all begins in the gym. When is everyone hitting their first gym appointment?
So I've read the book and have been planning for a week, I've started today, and a bit nervous, yet motivated to start this journey. Little background, I'm a 25 y/o M looking to drop about 40lbs, If I don't do it all within the 12 weeks (i'm being a realist) I at least want to have a good dent knocked out.
I also have a wedding in May and want to be feeling much better about myself. Couple that with beginning a new career in June, I can't afford not to do well. Here goes nothing, and I look forward to checking this forum periodically for everyones updates and questions/answers. And by the way, Happy New Year everyone! :)
(I know that this forum isn't starting until tomorrow, but I figured whats the difference in one day, We can all motivate each other.)
Just thought I'd check in for the day... I ran an awesome 5K this morning. I really pushed myself, and got an awesome workout. Then I cooled off by walking 2 miles, mixing in some sprints. Maybe it was the endorphins, but at one point, I was sprinting so fast, I felt like I was flying! I haven't felt that way in over ten years! So I was really psyched over that. Man, it felt incredible! I'm still going strong with the diet. I've been doing a "modified" BFL for the last month; I've been avoiding the weights. I'm doing great with diet and cardio, and losing weight, but it's time I start lifting to get a more athletic looking physique. I'm gonna get a gym membership 1/2/12 after my shift, and start hitting it hard like the good old days. Will probably start taking creatine again too, even though I think it's nasty. Hopefully my G-MEN beat the cowboys to give me extra motivation in the gym tomorrow. Go get 'em tomorrow, people! No more excuses. No more putting it off. No more self loathing. Let's make 2012 the best, healthiest, happiest year ever!
Hi Tyler and everyone,
I planned to start today (1st Jan) here in the UK, headed down to the gym with kit bag in hand to be reminded by a note on the door that it was not only a bank holiday but also a sunday...What sort of gym is closed on 1 Jan? Must be one of the busiest days of the year for them?? Oh well, looks like I’ll be starting on the 2nd then!
Like PickledBunny and Golfpunkgal I feel like I need to blog to make myself accountable. I have never blogged before and so I have no idea how to do it. Do I post on this thread or is there somewhere else on the site I need to go to?
Happy new year everyone, now lets get to it!
Cheers
Ian
P.S. Just off to wikipedia to find out what a blog is..... Not the most IT literate I'm afraid
IanTux - I was about to explain to you how/where you do your blog here (it's different than posting on this thread). But as I went through the steps myself I hit a brick wall. Not sure if there's a problem with the system or if I've done something wrong.
What I believed to be the way: while in the forums, click on your own screen name in the upper right, just below the search field. There you can enter a profile on yourself, or if you want to keep a blog click on the blog tab next to the profile tab. Can someone else tell us if this is the incorrect way to do it and if so, how do you do it?
Wakey
I am the culprit, and I am the cure
Hi Wakey!
I've found that bit, even managed to change my profile but when I click on Blog it just says that there aren't any....
Many thanks for your help, lets hope someone knows the answer?
Regards

I'm real big on using motivational quotes or sayings to help me along whatever challenge I'm going through. Here are some tidbits I've pulled from this thread - thought they may be helpful to someone else, too:
One of my favorite quotes is, "Anyone can give up - it's the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fall apart, that's true strength"
I must admit I'm not excited about this. But one thing I've learned in the past is don't wait for the fire to get started! Meaning I shouldn't wait until I'm all psyched up about a big challenge before starting it. Often the fire starts once I actually begin. I feel overwhelmed right now about the food; I'm not much of a cook and I need to find recipes that will be easy for me and cook up a bunch at the beginning of the week. And plan my whole week's menus. I know it's key so I will do that now.
I'm going to do something a bit unusual...I need to brush up on my PowerPoint skills for a new temp job I'm starting on Wed. I'm going to create a PP presentation using "before" (when I was a runner) and "current" pictures of myself. Then mix in some music and favorite motivational quips. If I create something good, I can view it every morning, or whenever I begin to get down. We'll see how it goes!
