I am starting today November 16th on my twelve week challenge.
I am 25 years old and happily married to the man of my dreams.
I gained about 60 pounds over the last 5 years and I know like many others, I just got "comfortable."
I am unhappy with my body and I want to make a healthy, long-lasting, life changing transformation.
I am 5'4, weigh 242 pounds, and I am going get down to 150 Lbs within time.
My first goal I have set for myself is 50 Lbs in 12 weeks.
I know 16 Lbs a month is a goal I can conquer!
I would love any help or feedback. =)
It's typical to lose about 20 - 25 lbs of fat during the 12 week challenge, and of course an increase in muscle mass will occur. It's possible to lose more than that, but I'm not sure you should count on it. These are values I recall from recently re-reading the Body for Life Text (original) by Bill Phillips. It is well established here that the more important number is your body fat percentage, and I would also say your blood pressure, resting pulse, and other key health measurements like chloesterol and blood sugar level are much more important than your weight.
The important point is after 12 weeks you will be well on your way to a transformation in not just body, but in mind, spirit, and confidence. I lost about 70 lbs in a 9 - 10 month period, and never stopped doing BFL as my lifestyle, and have kept the weight off for 2.5+ years. Different parts of the body continue to transform - it is only in the last few months that my Abs got definition, although the rest of the upper body has been well-sculpted for at least a year.
Once I discovered the joys of weight training, all other passions were transcended.
